Default Testpipe question for Type R owners?

I have an 01 Type R and I am thinking of getting a testpipe from testpipes.com. I would get a larger cat but I am short on funds right now. I am going to get the DC JDM 4-1 header and use the stock exhaust. I was wondering if I could just order a testpipe and bolt everything on myself? I went to testpipes.com and I saw they had a 2.5" testpipe for 94-01 integras and they said it will work with any header/exhaust combination. But I am wondering if the DC JDM 4-1 header is longer than the stock header because if it is then it will push my exhaust back. Lets say I bolt up the DC JDM 4-1 header and I am going to use the stock exhaust, now would the pipe between the header and exhaust be the same length as the stock cat or is it a different length?

Don't buy from testpipes.com. Everyone ive talked to has been unhappy w/ them. Have Dave ( SMSP ) make you one. He does them for $55 without 02 bung, and $75 with an o2 bung. And he knows what size it needs to be too

That is a little too much for a testpipe. I am looking to pay $20 to $35 only. I am just wondering if the testpipes are the same length as the stock cat and if they are will the DC JDM 4-1 bolt up properly?

And what is wrong with the testpipes from testpipes.com, is it fitment?
What makes SMSP's testpipe any better than the ones at testpipes.com?

i only paid like 30 for mine . i got mine made form a local exhaust shop though.
i like mine , reall nice gains .
the header lenght will be the same as well as the cat length , i think the test pipe lenght off hand is like 17.5 inches

Just curious, but how is the ground clearance with the DC JDM 4-1 header because my car is pretty low?

Will the DC JDM header still bolt to the header bracket underneath the car?

No

The JDM headers are a little longer than the stock so if the 2-1/2" test pipe is built to the stock length, you'll be pushing the whole cat back system back about 3/4".

Here's a pic of my 304 stainless steel testpipe

How much for your testpipe? And what about the o2 sensor? And could I just bolt it on if I were to buy it from you?

I got my 2-1/2" testpipe with o2bung from testpipe. I have a JDM 4-1. Stock Catback. I told them to make me a pipe 16-5/8 inches and it fits perfectly. After evaulating the pic of Dave's SMSP pipe. His definately looks more professionally made and cleaner welds. But if you just want a cheap testpipe $45 shipped, then testpipe.com should b fine. Oh yeah Just MAKE SURE u tell them you want the o2 bung on 3hole side. They screwed up my **** the first time and I had to send it back for a new one.

I ordered from testpipes.com and have been very pleased with it. The noise is the only downside

thanks for my testpipe dave, got it installed and am very pleased(its the one shown above that connects a jdm size header to usdm exaust. When i installed mine, it made little difference from stock(i went from a mugen 2.25 header and stock cat to dc jdm header and sms testpipe) when i rev in neutral it has a little raspiness but not much at all, and when cruising, its barely louder than it was before, and vtec you cant hear it anyway. BTW my catback is a tanabe racing medalion with the bottleneck gone

That test pipe from SMSP looks really nice. I think I will save up a few extra bucks and get either the test pipe or the Carsound cat from SMSP. I am leaning more toward the Carsound cat. Thanks SMSP I will be in touch with you soon.

Dave's SMSP Testpipe BIG

I just installed the testpipe and quality was very good. Fit just perfect. Dave threw in some bolts which was a BONUS!! After a couple runs down the block I notice better power above 4krpm and vtec owned me!!! Not much change difference in noise compared to the carsound cat which is good. i would have to say this is one good, must have mod. I would like to also compliment Dave on prompt service and delivery time.
