Default is it true.....stock exhaust!

Is it true that most aftermarket exhausts dont give that much or more hp then the stock exhaust cuz the stock exhaust is already really good?

I think there are 3-5 other post about this just a few threads down but,

The stock exhaust is designed by Mugen and is very good in quality althoguh VERY (too) quiet.

I run a T1R 63mm Sparrow, Gains accross the board and not to loud like the 70mm ones, Be prepaird to spend a easy 1000$ for 2-3 whp. You can also run a test pipe for larger gains but if you have any sort of etest be ready for the fail!

dude just get an aftermarket one, you will be amazed how much power you unfreeze by letting that engine breath

stop talking out of your ***.

honestly you're not going to gain more than 14hp with an exhaust (thats a 70mm headerback). most aftermarkets gain just a few ponies, its the weight savings that is the most beneficial.

completely wrong. infact, some after market exhaust actually lose horsepower for the s2k, although they will sound a hell of a lot louder. even a lot of the high priced very well known brand name exhaust hardly make any whp. like las2k said- the only real advantage is the weight savings.

with a test pipe and stock exhaust i think the s2k has an almost perfect exhaust note and is plenty loud. not too loud though to where the sound makes you even more of a cop magnet driving ur s.

just go un bolt the stock exhaust and pull it off the hangers by yourself, and you will only need to do it once to realize how much it weighs.....the stocker is a fukin beast!!!!
i loved the way my ARC dual titanium exhaust sounded, but i got rid of it, needed some extra $$.

I guess i felt a slight difference.....it was the sound mostly

same here, thats why i go on here to see the stupid questions and some dumb answers.
But SOME do know what there talking about
invidia,skunk2,j's,amuse have the most gains. with a test pipe it gains more and makes some of the exhuast more quite during regular drivin(less drone) like invidia/j's. From my own experience

I have invidia, i absolutely love it, i actually thought it was quiet until i put a test pipe on it, now it wails

there is only drone when your accelerating or deaccelerating, if your cruising around town at 35 in 5th or 45 in 6th you will hear nothing.... now highway is a little different but i still don't think its that bad and it has a nice deep tone.

I have an Amuse titanium single catback. Sounds great
Also have a toda header and test pipe. That made it sound even louder and better, but don't think it added much power....

The stock exhaust is an amazing setup, just weigh's a lot, like around 50lbs or so. Can't cheap out on mods when it comes to the S. Going with J's racing or T1R full titanium exhausts, will probably benefit the most since they weigh around +/- 10lbs. So you'll definitely free up some good power, from the weight reduction of the stock exhaust.

yes it's true, now that i have the spoon on there i can noticeably feel that i lost some top end power from the megan. the megan racing single as cheap as it was gave me some real good gains and significant weight savings. i just wish i dynoed before and after the megan

Dude,
Throw an intake and headers,
Getting a sound Violation ticket isnt worth 3 - 8 Hp
plus stock s2ks w/intake sound great

(my opinion)

From everything I have seen, the T1R 70mm single gives AMAZING gains considering it's a Honda with an exhaust.

I've seen reports of 12-15 whp, which is probably 12whp more than an exhaust would give on a Civic/Integra like most people are used to
