Default swapping again

here is my old post https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=2

i got tired of the b18b with the b16 tranny was having to stift alot and would have to shift into 5th gear to finish a quater mile pass. I am now in the process of swapping in a b18c1.

i have been putting this together for awhile now, so far i have replaced all the gaskets, seals some broken sensors, and had to remove a couple broken bolts from someone trying to tighten the cam caps a little to much and a full clean on the block and head look clean. right now i am running the vtec and knock sensor wires, and waiting on my skunk 2 intake mani also just had an extra vtec valve cover i had in the garage powder coated. I will try to get pics up when i get a chance before i put it in.

I did get it painted though. what do you think

I call on the 5th gear in the 1/4 mile. I had a hybrid s1/y1 b16 tranny (almost as short as s80 type R) It was short as hell and i wasnt close to 5th.

Maybe thats because you are used to shifting a neon at 6,000 rpm You do know you can shift that thing at 8200 rpm right??

You would need to be hitting 120mph in the 1/4 mile to need to be shifting into 5th.

Your car is in all reality going to be slower switching to the gsr tranny from the b16

my b20 with j1 b16 trans going down the 1/4 didnt hit 5th yet shifting at 7.5k..i think u should go lsvtec since u already have the b18b w/ b16 tranny..get a top head, imo it will eat a b18c1, stock v stock in a crx/hatch

since when can you shift a stock b18b at 8200?? i shift at 6500rpm. it drops off to much in power after that it actually runs faster like that then stifting at 7200 and 120mph in 4th try about 95mph at 7200. i actull

Oh I thought you had a b16.

Are you high?

and sorry bro unless you had a type R (s80) trans you wouldnt be hitting 5th in the 1/4 mile. s80 with 205-50-15's = 96.41 in 4th at 7200 rpm

Sell the gsr tranny buy b16 head.

im sorry i thought i said 95 in my last post i guess i was off by 1.41mph. my b18 isnt stock any more and i hit about 98-99mph in the quater when i run it. thats why i always shift to 5th and i shift at 6500 because you can feel it loose acceleration after that and it really likes the midrange. anyway who cares about that.

i also dont have a gsr tranny (well i do but going into the other civic) i have a b18c1 that i have purchased and been working on. I dont want to do lsvtec because i put all the time into making the car leagal and would like to keep it that way.

thanks for the replies i should be putting the new motor in this weekend.
