Default I have a new car... and a question!

I just got a champ white 94 cx hatch with a LS VTEC. b18b1 w/b16 sir head, type r pistons, chipped...the whole works,,, my question is because my tranny (b16) is shot, what do you think would be a best replacement? I hear the same tranny with a LS 5th gear would be good because I can still get awesome acceleration with the first four gears but still be able to go on the freeway in fifth with having to cruise at four and a half RPM. the bad thing I hear about the LS 5th would be its kinda expensive and/or hard to do?

x2 right out of my mouth. gsr would be fine too... gearing isn't that much different. But imo get one with a differential.

It could be kind of expensive, but you would love the results of a b16 tranny with an Ls fith gear. If you don't like this idea, another b16 tranny will do, but be aware of highway crusing. A GSR tranny is gets my vote. I used to have one on my straight Ls. Loved it. Great gearing and will do well for a moderate street and track setup

what are you doing with the car?

dd with some track duty where it'll pay for you to do the ls5th then go for it.

if its simply a DD i say go for the gsr tranny and get a lsd for it.
