92 GSR or 92 LS with b18c1
So once I get my mustang sold I'm looking at either buying a 92 GSR integra that's sitting on blades. I hear it's pretty nice and runs good. Are these good reliable cars and is it hard to find replacement parts for the B17? I'm not familiar with them at all. Not sure on the price as I was just told the car is available.
The other car is a 92 integra with a 96 GSR motor and LS tranny.. Everything is completely stock except the swap, so stock it even had stock exhaust. The swap was done by a shop, not just some backyard mechanic that may or may not know what he is doing. The windshield has a crack and the paint is rough, but it's all there. The price on this one is $2000.
I should have about $4000 to deal with, so if I bought the LS/GSR I could piece together a turbo set up or I could get the GSR and just do something small, like cams and VAFC just because I wouldn't want to go crazy on a 'rare' B17.
Which one would you guys choose? With that choice, what would you do to it? This is my daily driver, I need decent gas mileage and something reliable. Like most I also want speed, maybe a high 13, give or take some time.

92 gsr's are nice and somewhat rare, and the b17 has no issues with parts...bnasically a stroked b16....depends on the price and you actually seeing/driving the car, not just "what you hear"

this doesn't sound too bad, given that the swap was done by a supposedly experienced shop. tell the owner you want to see paperwork and recipts for the swap. window is cheap, and paint job is too if you can prep it yourself. only concern would be rust

i would skip the VAFC....if you bought the LS w/ the b18c the extra $ should go to maintenance and paint....if you buy the authentic gsr the $ should go to maintenance as well with any remainder to subtle performace starting with suspension...

Okay well I am speaking from current experience. I have a 92 LS with a jdm b18c swap that my buddy and I swapped ourselves. The engine has a ctr intake cam and has been tuned on crome pro and is a strong engine running great but the only downfall is 100% the LS tranny. Falling out of VTEC when racing is the last thing you want. And also finding a good running cable b16 geared tranny is REALLY hard to find. So you would want to convert to hydro and get a GSR, b16 or type R tranny.
92 GSR is a nice car, but is basically a DA with a b16 engine. The b18c over any b16/b17, but the tranny in the 92 GSR is what you would need in your b18c swap.

i have had experince with boh cars and like people said the tranny will be the downfall in the 92 LS but a 93 gsr is rare but a good car and very relaible if taken care of. If u can do a compression test then do that and see which 1 is better. I have a 92 gsr and i plan on piece 2gether a turbo kit and boosting 6psi on a gt28 and my car has 250,xxx but great comprssion. Just make sure what ever1 u get it has a healthy engine
Thanks for all the advice and opinions!
I'm still waiting to find out the price of this GSR and see pictures of it.
I think I have the mustang sold, just working out a deal.
Hopefully I'll be back in a honda soon
(before the Feb 16 honda meet @ summit racing in GA)
