ok, so last night i took my head off to change my cam seals and head gasket, everythings going smooth as butter until it comes time to torque the head back down. One of the head stud holes stripped and now im seriously expletiveed I'm getting ready to try and helicoil the sucker but am not to sure about that, any suggestions, advice, help please!!

pull the head off and put thread inserts in all the holes. i don't think its helicoil but i saw a link in another thread about cylinder head thread inserts.

 

timeserts are too rich for my blood lol, imma have to go with the helicoils but ive never done them before and am a little nervous about doing it, any tips or suggestions??

 

its pretty simple, just take your time. make sure you get the right drill bit size for the helicoil. the drill will go in straight pretty easily. then hit the hole with some air to get the chips out. then tap the hole, the tap will go in straight pretty easily too, just take your time and do half a turn at a time with the t-handle. use some thread cutting fluid too. you'll be a pro by the 4th hole.
