Default first project car =)

i bought a 90 crx si for $300. it currently has full full exhaust, msd ignition controller with wires and coil and a fuel pressure regulator. i have been doing the body work replacing the axles, busted ball joints brakes and cleaning up the already stripped interior. i plan on spending as little on appearance. i am now looking for tips on cheap motor builds for my sohc so i can start saving money. this is my first build so sorry if i seem "NOOOB" thanks for the help.

thats a good find, i jus bought a 90 crx dx completely stock everything for 500. for the motor, best thing to do is boost. maybe tear the motor down and do all bearings and throw some low comp pistons and maybe some stronger rods if ur planning on crazy hp. depends on what ur goals are. gl

to be honest if your going to start fixing you motor up i would recoment a swap 1st gen b16's are cheap look around here on the classifieds. i am currently rebuilding my A6 motor in my crx and to rebuild everything is costing me about $500-$600 for everything new so if your going to tear everything down your going to have to replace bearing, rings, gaskets anyway so its going to cost more to fix up you SOHC than swap a B16 and you'll have about the same HP. GL though on whatever you decided

sometimes rebuilds cost more than getting a new engine, but however if you buy an used engine without doing a rebuild, then you might need to do a rebuild too....

if you get a used motor. go through hmotorsonline.com. they are more expensive than here but they have low mileage motors

Not neccessarily. They may have low mileage as stated. But once you remove the head and oil pan. It is filthy with sludge buildup and the original oil fitler from honda

My buddy's jdm d15 claimed that it had 15000 miles. He bought into it.. and had me rebuild it for him. Once I put the engine in on my stand. I remove the head. DAMN! the pistons were all covered in carbon like cooking barbecue. I removed the pan and found the oil pan had jello- like oil and the oil fllter was clogged. I told him to talk to the seller and get a refund, they exchanged him with a different purchase and now has b16.

That's what happens when your buddy buys a motor from a seller and don't even get all the history reports. Inspect carefully don't just buy because its cheap to my buddy

ok two options u have do the d16a6 which i highly recomend or get a b18b1 and do a ls vtec It would be way cheaper to rebuild the a6 and make it high compression or turbo over going with bseries
