If you have access to a welder or know someone who does, cant beat the price

 

if you have to ask, i would say no.
you are just fine without one.

 

For autocross, baffled oil pan is unnecessary.

 

I would say that baffled pan is not necessary for autox and the occasional track event.

the purpose of a baffled oil pan is to prevent oil starvation during prolonged high-g loads during certain corners...

one such corner would be the carousel @ road america

i highly doubt you will be seeing close to anything like that @ your local parking lot

No, atleast I dont think so.

 

i have been told that it would be a good idea as you progressed in your driving skills to the advanced levels and started using R-compounds that it would be a good idea

novices driving around the track @ freeway speeds can spend the money on more tracks days

It is not stock class legal and won't help under auto-x conditions. It will through you into a street prepared class, I think... spend money on the following:
1 - Seat-time, seat-time, seat-time. Go to as many auto-crosses, test and tunes, and or Evolution Schools if you have the money. Oh, your local region may be hosting a learning school / trial event before the season starts. That would be a good way to start.
2 - Try a track day to see if you like that better, more seat time per event and it's a different experience. It is about one auto-cross season's worth of seat time and expense in one day.
3 - Set up your car for Street Tire class. Get some Koni Yellows, cheap millenia wheels and good street tires. spend a season like that.
4 - If you are now hooked, buy race tires for next season. Be forewarened, ITRs eat through front hoosiers in about 4 events or 25 runs. Khumo's will last longer, but don't feel nearly as good (kinda like beach *****).
5 - have fun!

Truth. I was just thinking it may be some cheap insurance against f'in up your motoR under any competition. Me personally, at worst, I can replace my motor for under $1k if something happened....you fOOs.....not so cheap. Obviously, if you want to be competitive in Autocross regionally, and definitely nationally, you need to follow the rules for the class you wish to be in, as "micmic" outlined.

 

Autox you do have some high-g loads but they dont last very long, and are often followed by G-loads in the opposite direction. Just make sure you have plenty of oil in the engine

You already have a baffled pan installed? If so. Keep it!!!!!
We where trying to save you $$$ but if you have it already on the caR then leave it there.
