Default ** ITR Help please !!

Hey guys my buddy bought an itr about a month ago and we just cannot figure out what in the hell can be wrong with it .. The information that i know is that it is a 2000 Itr that had been theft recovered and put back together !! The engine has around 85,000 miles on it and it has i/h/e and tuned on Pharebal.net (sp) ecu .. For some reason it starts to cut out and sputter at around 6500 and up and struggles and i do mean struggles to get to redline, but for some reason every once in awhile and it could be weeks but it'll pull hard all the way to redline. We've replaced the plugs, plug wires, distributor , cap, rotor, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, and checked timing. We are totally stumped on what it could be !! any help would be appreciated ... and if you have any questions about details just ask !! thanx

Put in a good ecu. It sounds like the tune on your ecu is junk.

That or an ignition issue. Try another known good ECU and report back.

Let do 1 thing at a time. I would almost bet that it is the ECU. Sounds almost like what somebody I know went through with his R.

It sounds like a distributor issue. Did you replace the distributor or distributor cap? I would look at your ignition coil of all things.

And we put a new distributor on also cap and rotor but we'll go back over and check all the ignition components and make sure everything is grounded and on right !!

Any other ideas !?

I had a problem with my secondary oxygen sensor grounding out and causing similar symptoms. Check them both

far shot in the dark, but make sure the battery's strapped down tight and not arcing against the firewall, i have a nice little hole where the positive terminal bounced off my firewall.

*edit* my bad, i thought it was running good most of the time and only sputtering once and a while. ill read slower next time.

I thought you needed to run OBD2 02 sensors regardless of the tune or ECU?

you do have to run obd2 o2 sensors but you only have to run 1 of them ... and he said he was having probs with his secondary o2 sensor (aka your second o2 sensor) which you dont need when running obd1 tuned ecu ..

Being a theft recovery, how are the wire harnesses? Were they cut by the thieves? If so were they repaired (soldered) or replaced?

they put a new harness in there ;-( !!! but since it was sitting for awhile could rust be in the tank or lines and cause it to run like crap and kill injectors ??
