flickering oil light and no vtec..need sum advice
just finished putting my gsr motor together..its a gsr block with pr3 pistons and new rings and bearings and a gsr head ported, valvetrain and stage 2;s..now at first i was getting a code 22 for vtec pressure switch then that went away..checked that out and everything was good and within spec then noticed my oil light flicker once in a while...any ideas??oil pan looks good no dents..maybe oil pump?pick up?...any ideas???
update:switched oil pump and pick up with new ones..and still the same....can it be anything in the head???

the light means low or no oil pressure which usually means ur low on oil.
check your oil. (make sure ur using the right dip stick. certain ones are longer than others which would give u a false reading for the oil level.)
check your wiring to make sure there is no exposed or crimped wires.
other than that^ check the vtec solenoid it self.

how many miles have you put on it. any light knocking or anything.
did you replace the pickup tube gasket. was there any shavings in the botttom of the oil pan.
if everthing is good your rod bearings play a important roll in oilpressure

ive put about 100 miles on it and theres no signs of knocking..sounds good and idles good....just the oil light keeps flickering and vtec wont engage
only thing i can think of thats missing in the head is this little copper plug with a allen head that goes on the left side of the head...had toplug it with a bolt...any ideas what its for?
did you keep the oil control orfice in the block. there is also a plug in the head by the dizzy that ive seen a few people forget to put iin. its hard to see just under the cam. and did you put the oil jets back in. have you put an oil pressure guage on the engine?

That little thing is in the middle, under the cam caps, and to behonest, i dont even run it, i have a gasket there, but i dont have the pin..
This sounds like a oil pick up problem.. clean your oil pick up.. you wont know anything for sure until you get a oil pressure gauge on there, i wouldn't drive it..someone above stated bearing damage.. could be alot more then that by now..

could be a bad connection , and the no vtec could jut be un related .</TD></TR></TABLE>
There's an opition in crome that allows you to disable oil pressure vtec or something like that.. along with coolent check and speed check..i dont know for sure i just woke up so i'm not thinking that clearly.. but this kid has major issuse..

what bearings did you use? Did you plastigauge??
you could have to much clearance on your main bearings which will cause your oil light to flicker because of the lower oil pressure,

ive checked all the wiring involved with vtec..all in spec...ive replaced pump and oil pick up.....and im waiting for my oil pressure gauge that i ordered online since i culdnt find one locally.....
Was the head ever taken apart? If so, are you sure all the pins are in the rockers?
the head was taken apart when ported, which pins exactly are you talking about?

acl bearings were used and they were plastigauged...i didnt personally put the bearings or rings in(only thing i didnt do)..had local shop dnr performance do it for me..so im hoping they did a good job..there a pretty reputable shop in the bay area
