Does anyone out there know a good way to dye or paint all the interior parts of the car. Like all the plastic trim and dash, I have swapped out my carpet and seats and recovered the rear seats in my Civic. Im going for a completely black cockpit type look. Also how would I go about dyeing the headliner?

 

you can use spray paint. bout the only thing that i can suggest. i have never really done major painting of my interior. when i painted my dash, i sanded it down and primed it before tho. please tell me that ur last name is spilner. i am hoping u didn't get that from F&F

Check your local furniture places for "furniture paint" and Summit racing and JWC have interior paint in there catologs.......cleaner, primer, paint, remover....all the stuff to do it right.

My friend purchased an arm rest from an Sir, it's gray, his interior is black, so he decided to have it painted as well as redoing the armrest material. It was about 50 bucks, but the paint matches the interior so well, that you can't even tell is used to be gray. The plastic still has it's stock texture, and it hasn't faded or chipped at all, been about 3 months. I say have a pro do it

 

why don't you just buy new interior. or used interior thats in good shape. it'll probably cost the same as painting.

 

i would suggest to get everything wrapped in vinlye, cause the paint fades,chips,cracks, and does not look good, trust me i do custom custom interior, and the best way for looks and quality is vinlye wrap....

 

Vynil looks like crap though. And they dont make all black civic interiors. Im gonna try and do most of the work myself. So I guess Im gonna do some myself and take the hard stuff like the headliner to the pros. Thanks guys

 

i use Engine Enamal (sp??).......it works perfectly, no chips, no bubbles as long as you sand the part down really well........

 

Go to your local autoparts store, or even walmart.

Look for some Interior paint, sometimes its says Fabric Paint, or Vinyl Dye, or Interior Paint.

I used this stuff to paint the drives on my computer. It does not sractch or chip like spray paint. Just follow directions on the can. It also doesnt build up, and runs disappear etc.

The first time I used it, I thought I messsed up on my cd drive. I couldn't even the the "DVD" on the faceplate anymore. After a few hours, it looked perfect again.

I used the same can to "Paint" my rear hatch cover a darker shade. to match my itr seats.

I tried doing some floor matts and it didn't stick at all. I am guessing that the floor matts had scotch gaurd on them.

For the carpet, I would try using real fabric dye (RIT)

One word of advice. THIS STUFF SMELLS. So you might want to do a section at a time and let it air out for a few days...

I could smell my rear cover for at least 2 weeks. I can't imagine the entire enterior!
