Default B16 stroker....Can it be done......??

Please no flaming!!!

Im looking for people that have built or have experience with stroked b-series motors. I know on paper this setup would technically work. The part im unsure is the life span of the motor. After doing some research i realized that with a b16a block, Itr crank, Itr rods and a custon piston that i could have a sleeper stroked b16. I want to know the effects of the shorter piston. I know the princple behind it, but want to see the cons behind using a custom pistons vs. rods. I would like to use the Itr rods to keep a good rod/stroke ratio. In doing this the compression height would have to be around 22mm instead of the normal 30mm. What happens if i go too low of a compression height??

Feedback is needed!!

Thanks

You could always drop in a B17 crank, sleeve and bore to 84mm and have a 1.8 with a B16 stamp.

I really dont want to sleeve it. If im going to go that far, i might as well get a ls or b20 block. I need to know if it is ok to have a low compression height piston setup.

I would take the eagle B16 stroker kit, with a 84.7mm stroke, b16 length eagle rods and custom srp pistons. With this kit the compression height is 26.00 or 26.5 mm, i'm not sure. But it turns the displacement to almost 1.8L and the cr to 11.8, you will have the same rod/stroke ratio, 1.58, as a b18c5.

I wouldn't use a piston with 22mm compression height, the piston ring lands will be closer to each other and the upper compression ring will have a lot of load which will result in excessive wear.

sure no problem. I know I have posted many times about my stroked b16, as well as others have posted about their strokers.

89mm crank, B16 length rods, Rocket Motorsports Spec CP Pistons. If you search you will find info about it.

Using a stock, uncut B16 block (7.997), a OE 89mm B series LS/B20 crankshaft, stock length B16 rods either custom with a pin end set up to accept a .708 wrist pin or stock B16 or off the shelf B16 rods rebushed to accept a .708 wrist pin and a custom .950 compression height piston with 1.0, 1.2, 2.0 ring pack and some squished ring lands..... Your golden

.005 in the hole, add +.005 to the compression height if youd like tobe at "0" deck with an uncut block.
