Default Fuel and Oil additives......(good or bad?)

As you know companies like Lucas Oil, STP, Mobil and so on & so forth make additives for both your fuel and your oil. Treatments that supposedly enhance the performace of your engine. My question is Does it work?? or am I just buying fuel in a fancy bottle???

Also, there is an oil treatment process where you place something in your oil, run your engine for 5 minutes and then change your oil. Is that effective? Any possible harm?

Ethanol Fuel???

The though of them make me shiver. Its a proven fact they're very bad for the motor. The fuel additives aren't bad on the motor but I've seen a countless number of times where it causes the o2 sensors to fail and needing to be replaced.

Same goes with "crankcase" cleaners. The story goes you dump it in the oil and let it run to "loosen" up the grime and dirt. Well guess what happens when you do that? It goes through the whole motor putting scratches and all kinds of nasty on your bearings mainly. Worst idea ever...

Never run the oil stuff you talk about! what it does is break down the oil in the motor like a degreaser, un less you flush the crankcase very well it doesnt get all the way out of your motor, so guess what? it starts breaking down your fresh oil.... just my thinking!!! hope this helps

the only fuel additives i use are BG Products.

Such as the BG 44k, BG Supercharge II. i also use bg air intake cleaner, bg fuel injection system cleaner, hell i use alot of the bg products.

ive seen their facility and R&D and have seen results first hand on their products. most of the BG Products can be found in your local ma and pa shops (if they are BG authorized) or in your big dealerships....

A fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron once in a while won't hurt, but don't over-do it. Honda does not recommend any additives for the oil.

I second that.

Lucas oil will kill your motor because that stuff is thick like glue preventing oil from going to the bearings. I would never use that stuff on my Honda motor.
