90 civic si with ls problem

90 civic si with ls problem
i have a 90 civic si hatch, has a 98 ls in it. runs great. i just run into the problem evertime i start the car. as soon as i start it i have to put my foot on the gas and leave it there till my idle goes up without me giving it gas. takes about ten-twenty seconds. then it will drive fine the rest of the day besides the low idle/(feels like its goin to shut off) if anyone can help let me know thanks
