project eg?
hey guys, before i buy my hatchback project car i have a few questions. i want to stay with the d-series motor and build it n/a style, but i want the vtec one (d16z6) that came in the si. i live in the seattle area and have NEVER seen a Si for sale. (at least not one worth buying) would it be worth it financially to purchase another hatchback model and swap it or just wait it out for the si. also which model would be easiest to swap in the Si motor? i also dont really know what is a fair price for a hatchback. it sucks i've been saving and i finally have enough to buy one, but i cant find one worth buying. if you guys see anything for sale let me know.
Since your looking for hatches, try the market place. As for fair price, depends on the condition. The d16z6 is found in the ex and si trim. I got mine from a junkyard ex for $250, they're plenty out there.

its also weak and a waste of money
your going to spend more to build a d series than you would on a decent engine swap
like a GSR or an H22

I drove 3.5 hours to Omaha to buy my Si. None were in KC at all. Look on local forums in your area, like I found mine on KCSR.org (Kansas City Street Racing) for example. Then of course eBay and yadda yadda. I KNOW the Seattle area has to have it's own forum like that.
D15B is cool, 5 more hp than a d16z6, and a shorter 3rd gear, right? I might be wrong. D16z6 is nice because there are so many parts available for it.
16.5 stock with my Si, i/h/e later and I'm in the low 15s. I'm just going to put in a Skunk2 cam in it and that's it, because I'm not going to put a ton of money into that 172k mile motor, especially after catching the B-series bug when I drove my friend's ITR.
But if you are without a doubt wanting to build a hardcore NA D-series, there are plenty threads on here and d-series.org to get information on how to do it, and with inexpensive stock parts (for rods and pistons, and even d17 crankshaft). I'm not too familiar with D-series whp numbers, but I wanna say 175whp is reachable with a full build, but it's going to cost alot of money to get there, and won't be nearly as streetable as a B16, B18c, or H22a with the same whp.
Exospeed can build some mean D16s. He can definately suit your NA SOHC needs.

i dont wanna spend a gang a change on a motor if i could see higher hp/tq numbers on a b16. well first i should buy a civic THEN worry bout that. i eyeing a 92 vx for $2200 if has some front end damage, but new bumber and stuff, i'll have to check it out to see. do you think its a semi good deal? http://seattle.craigslist.org/....html
