advice for painting lower grill and side vents for 2000 civic
Hey
so my 2000 civic has color matched lower grill and side vents and i wanna paint it flat black. i'm mainly concerned about expletiveing up the side vents. i tried searching but can't find a detailed writeup for this. what is the best way to go about doing this? what grit sandpaper should i use since the bumper is plastic? should i sand away all the paint (some people suggested not to)? do i need a primer if i use duplicolor trim paint? also a simple writeup of the sand and paint process would really help.
TIA

I'd say go to your local auto parts store up here in WA I'd go to Schuck's, get 3M GRAY scotchbrite (gray is the actual color of the scotchbrite), and some masking tape. Mask off all the areas that you dont want to paint first, then use the scotchbrite on the areas that you do want to paint. Scuff up the area really well, you dont need to take the color off just make sure the gloss is gone, then just use a rattle can to paint it flat black! No need for primer...just make sure you clean the surface well after you scuffed it!
thanks man
did exactly like u said, i used duplicolor black bumper spray paint and it came out perfect (looks just like oem)!
