Which tranny best for B18C5?
I have searched but did not find any useful information.
I am swapping a C5 into an EF and wondering which CABLE tranny would be the best mated to this engine? I like the ratios of the LS tranny and they are cheap.
Any thoughtful input?
Thanks again.

best, use the hyrdo convert kit and use it's tranny.
Really, there is no best, it depends what you are doing with it, if you like an LS ratio... well umm ok..

if you want to use a cable tranny a b16 one will be great, y1 if you can

If you want a cable transmission, the B16A S1 is probably the best. It has exactly the same gear ratios as the 1996-1998 JDM and all USDM ITR transmissions. Another possibility would be the YS1 from the 1992-1993 Integra. This transmission is actually slightly shorter than the S1. So acceleration should be slightly better. But freeway revs will be a little higher. As for the LS transmission, this really isn't the best choice, as the engine will fall below VTEC on shifts. But if you like the gearing, then you could try one. After all, they are pretty cheap these days. Of course, the other optin would be to swap the LS fifth gear into a VTEC transmission.

That is going to be super hard to setup a car for both of those.

Haha stupd of me to even say the car will be used for auto x AND drag. Not thinking.
I think I'll be going with a B16 tranny, and throw in an OBX lsd in there or find a stock LSD tranny.
I appreciate the help, cheers.
