Need your opinions about my del aol
hey whats up?? i was a very active member on this site and i forgot my old username so i was forced to make a new one..so please do not call me a noob i just have not posted in about a year.....anywayyy here is my situation
i have had a b16 94 del sol for about 4 years now....it only has 115000 on the body and i have rebuilt the motor because i put buddy club cams in it and i put a huge hole in a piston......so it was rebuilt from the ground up by a shop brand new...upgraded valve spring/retainers etc.....after 1500 miles on the motor it blew again....i took down the oil pan and the rod is mangled....the car has basically been sitting in my garage more then i have driven it since i have 2 cars anyway......should i rebuilt it again and either drive it or sell it...should i built a beast all motor.... take the motor out and sell the shell and buy something else to put it in....i dunno there are so many options...what would you guys do???ive always been a huge del sol fan and this is my second one i have owned thanks

Did you read the question?? Did you just copy and paste that sentence from somewhere? Is it an acient Chinese proverb? "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" "What is the sound of a single cam hitting VTEC?"
I'm sorry to rag on you...but.....the answer didn't pertain to the question AT ALL.

Why rebuild it? B16A long blocks are like $800. Buy a FACTORY ASSEMBLED long block. It's rare for general engine rebuild shops to get it right. These engines work well with very tight tolernances. Cleetus isn't gonna worry too much about getting your **** 100% correct.
Buy a long block.
As for the engine's build status. Ask your self this question and ANSWER IT HONESTLY!!
Race car or street car?
Answer the question, and myself or someone else can give you accurate advice.

Lets break that down. 400whp street civic.
1.) WTF do you do on the street with a 400whp civic? Spin tires? It's never going to hook up without slicks. Do you drive to school on slicks? No. So it's useless.
2.) 400whp is not reliable. Turning down the boost for the street will most likely make it a 250whp - 300whp civic. If you turn down the boost for normal driving, then you also do not believe in a 400whp street civic.
3.) Fully built motors dont handle street duty as well or as gracefully as OEM setups. Not even close. Driveabilty is reduced, and maintainence is greatly increased. Do you DAILY drive a 400whp civic at it's 400whp boost level on race gas all the time? Would you take it on a cross country trip? Would you drive it to school or work every day AT THE 400WHP LEVEL?
4.) How long do you expect this "400whp" setup to last with day to day driving? 6 months? A year? 20k miles? OMGZ THAT'S SO PRACTICAL AND RELIABLE!!!!

With big *** cams, you need big *** compression. Big *** compression doesn't work out very well on the street....especially if you live in cold climates. If you have to start up a 12:1 motor with big injectors, a rich fuel map, and huge *** cams on a cold *** day, it's kinda hard.
It also nessecitates high octane fuel.
Also nesseciates a very tight valve train that wears valve seats, valves, springs, and timing belts.
I dont know the specs on the Buddy club cams you had. Hopefully, they were good street cams.
Dont do a B16A if you want 180-190whp NA. Buy a B18C and go from there. It will be relatively easy to do 190whp with an ITR motor and still have very good reliability.
