Default My ALL MOTOR set up. let see some input.

Yes, I know another one of those all motor boring threads. well lets hear some input and maybe people with experience on this type of set up.
These can be fun once in a while

What I am looking for is to have fun with an all motor set up in my DC2. I want to get around 220 whp for a goal. I will get it professionally tuned too.
Fun as in Quarter mile, and some freeway pulls, enough to have some fun with sti's or evo's

as for the set up its this..

PnP'd ITR head
Jun Valve train
Skunk 2 retainers
ITR valves
2 layer headgasket
ARP headstuds
Skunk2 Pro series 1 Cams

GSR block
ITR crank
ITR rods w/ ARP rod bolts
Spoon ITR pistons w/ OE rings
ACL bearings
ported and shimmed oil pump

ITR tranny
Fidanza Flywheel and exedy St1 clutch

Intake - AEM 3 inch CAI
Hytech replica header
Endyn Breather Catch Can

please dont flame my thread, if you dont like it simply hit the Red X at the top corner. thanks guys

you can go a few diffenent ways. sell the spoon itr pistons and get a set of oem ctr pistons. or put an ls crank and rods then run jdm p30 pistons. and get a set of s2pro2's. the last ls/vtec motor i did for a friend had p30's and itr cams and a **** old school dc header it made 198hp with a but load of tq.

your set-up looks decent, but i would get rid of the megan header. as far as i know, im pretty sure that its not going to get you to 220whp.

1. get rid of the crane cams. they are meant for domestic classics . buy skunk2 cams AND cam gears. i can guarantee you will never be disappointed.

2. the head studs, the breather can, and the cold air intake have to go. they are all pointless and unnecessary in your plans. buy a decent short ram intake. it will give you more power.

3. stock valves are fine. save that money for tuning.

4. an itr crank and rods are only better than the stock gsr crank and rods in that they are balanced and lightened. spend 100 dollars and get your entire rotating assembly balanced and lightened by a reputable machine shop. you just saved yourself a grip of money.

5. ported and shimmed oil pump. another waste of money.

6. this is the last of it. i dont think that an exedy stage 1 will last for to long with that power goal. i have an exedy stage 2 and it barely keeps up with my power. lastly, DO NOT RUN CTR PISTONS IN A 1.8 LITER BLOCK. you are just asking for trouble. take that.

hope that helped.

Thanks man, as for all the parts, those are what i have to be able to throw on it.

BUT i will go with different cams, and the headstuds are already there. the previous owner said he noticed a difference with the can in 5th gear throttle response.
All internals in the block are going to stay the same, head work is already done so ill get better cams, and an intake, and i already have the header..

OK for one all u have done so far to the block is JUST MAKE it a stock R the PNP head is a good start... sale those cams RIHGT NOW and get sk2 PROS ST2. sale that header and save some money to get sms or rmf header. u are going to need some good parts to get the 1.8 in the 220 area.... i am not trying to hate trying to help AND i would get the sk2 pros ITM with a good 68mm tb... start with that i would say that u would be close if not there with the #S that u want...

so much bad rap for crane cams... its like you have USED THEM

i have used them they are not even all that bad... very good linear fat tq... and higher hp than maybe 75% of HT... oh and not to bench race but the car traped 110 on a 2600 pound shell, but again who cares THEY ARE BAD YEAH YEAH

not sure why people dont like the crane's. on my old gsr swap vtec came in hard, and massive torque. but it did take higher RPMs to make power.

Skunk 2 is where its at i guess, but i am reading the 1's over the pro 2's for what im doing.

If you do decide on getting skunk cams the pro 1 will be better for your setup. THe pro 2 would work better on a larger build. BC4's would also be nice.

Just stay boosted man. Sell all this **** and build a real motor for boost. Benson sleeved block pistons and rods and use that head with turbo setup and turn up the wick and throw down 350+hp and youll be a ton happier man. Just my 2 cents lol. But seriously good luck with the N/A build, im thinkin about the same, got the high comp pistons for the B20 and just picked up that head. Gonna be a 2.1L motor revving to 9500. 12.5 to 1 compression.

Okay update. I bought a Skunk2 Pro intake manifold.
buying precision 440 injectors, walbro 255, B&M fpr. using the stock fuel rail.

Now I am forking up money for cams. Not sure what ones yet.
Leaning on Skunk2 Pro 1's. would the pro 2's be overkill?

my tuner is telling me to keep them mild, and get CTR's.. but i want more POWA

pro2's doesn't have the "lumpy idle" at all. and also, look for a better header, i wouldn't take those megan headers even if they gave it to me

imo, i think one of the best cams to go for with an itr is jun3's. i just wanted to throw that in there seeing that u have itr internal's (bottom end)

They aren't that "bad" but they also aren't "great"

I would have just gone with the Skunk2 Pro valvetrain

Why not Pro 1's?

im leaning towards the pro1s because if i dont get the all motor set up i want, i can use the cams for turbo (not for this build lol)

pro 2's are overkill for YOUR setup. Stick with what works and keep it simple.
