exhaust questions and pics
i just got an '00 civic EX. i have been researching exhaust systems for it but i can't ever find pictures of them on cars. i had narrowed it to greddy evo and apex'i world sport. i plan on adding headers and an intake and from what i've heard greddy will be tooloud for my taste. i had a 3" flowmaster cat-back on my firebird and i couldn't even talk in my car. neway, i want a system that won't be too loud when i'm just doing normal driving but when i get on it like i'm racing, i want it to be kinda loud. i think if i get the world sport an add a header and intake, it will be ok. if any of you have any pics of world sport systems on you civics, post them or e-mail me at JshY22aol.com. thanks
Greddy EVO = Just barely sound legal.
Apexi WS = Sleeper, deep tone, and quiet. A lot of people are converting to this exhaust due to it's quite tone.

My Apexi N1 is pretty loud (NA), but Tanabe Medallian is noticably louder at all RPM's.

well ****, now i'm hearing that the apex'i ws is restrictive and won't give me many horses. i want the max power for my dollar so what should i do. what about a custom cat-back, with say... a magnaflow muffler. what do you think that would sound like with a 2.5" pipe. when i rev it i don't want it to sound raspy , will it do that.
Get a Thermal R&D Classic exhaust. I've had mine for about a year, and the power gains were exceptional and were noticed mainly in the higher RPMs. Sound wise they're extremly low and bassy, not too loud, not too soft. http://www.importparts.com. Hopefully this helps you...
If you want a straight through design that is quiet look into the GReddy SP or the Tanabe Hyper Medalion. I don't know where this guy got this idea that the Tanabe Racing Medalion is "quiet low and deep" or whatever. That thing is loud as ****, unless he is partially deaf from the exhaust.
The GReddy isn't that loud, and it gives good gains. The Tanabe Hyper is straight through, and not THAT loud, but it's still audible. I have the Apexi WS and it's chambered, which doesn't flow that great. It's really quiet though, not as quiet as stock, just quieter than other exhausts. Whatever you do, if you want quiet don't get an N1 style muffler. Even with the silencer those exhausts can be sometimes loud.

you cant have quiet and lots of performance. the ws gives good performance w/good level of sound. look at the b16 in eg hatch in scc. they use the ws and see pretty good gains with it.
