98 civic climate control into EF
I have been looking at different climate controls and the 92-95 controls are grey and most of the EF's interior's are black. I know that there is a thread on swaping the accord control but today I bought a 98 civic control that is black, has 4 settings like the EF and the mounting holes line up but it is like 1/4-1/2" taller than the EF. so...... has anyone else tried this setup and if they have what is the wiring schematic on the 98 control or do you have the complete schematic for both. Thanks and any other advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

I dont think it will be too hard. Search HT for a wiring diagram for the heater control from a EF, then look for one from a EK. Match the wires up that rep. each other. And va'la

That's why you do what I did and pick up a '95-98 Odyssey HVAC control unit, which is exactly the same as the '92-95 Civic control unit except it's all black.
I've already posted the wiring pinouts in this forum. Mounting and cable attachment is up to you.

Dunno where he put the "pinouts"?
I just did this swap and it works!!!
I used the grey civic heater ($170AUD) then found this forum so now gotta go get an Odyssey one and do it all again....lol
My CRX is RHD so I had to make some bends in the cables that control the heat and they're pretty stiff, going to have to work somethng better out for that otherwise very happy with it.
Wiring for 1990 CRX Heater Control / Climate control using Civic 92-95 EG contol panel as follows
Crx Harness Civic Harness
Blk = Ground Ground for all controls Blk = Ground
Blk/Yel = +12v Power for all conrols Blk/Yel = +12v
.................................................. .................................................. .............
Recirculation controls
Grn/Wht (5) Fresh Air Grn/Wht
Grn/Red Recirc Air Grn/Red
Direction Controls
Yel/Red front Yel/Red
Gren/Wht (3) front/down Grn/yel
Blu/Wht down Blu/Wht
Yel up/down Yel
Yel/Blu up Yel/Grn
Note: There are 2 Green with white stripe cables on the CRX harness, luckily one of mine (No.5) had silver dots on it. If you look at the 13 connection CRX connector from the end as if you were connecting it to the back of the Control Panel the 2 Grn/Wht cales are on the top row, count 3rd one from the left = Grn/Wht(3) and then 5th cable from the left = Grn/Wht (5)
.................................................. .................................................. ...............
Wires to the Aircon Switch are the same on both CRX and Civic
Red - Illumination Control
Red/Blk - lighting switch
Blu/Red - Thermostat
Grn - A/C switch
Blower controls use the same connection no need to swap.
Now I'm off to replace my rusty sun roof and 2 front windows then get it tinted
new wheels, susp coil overs throw in a B18c5 turbo and laugh my *** off trying to keep it straight cause FWD are useless with over 300Hp @ the wheels....
why didn't I do a Silvia SR20?

Well the 98 civic climate control would have worked but the face isn't flat like most of the honda's, it is slanted outward at the top which would make the control sit to far outside of the housing so I decided to buy the accord. I went home started modifying the unit to work and which I then realized that the accord temp control wasn't going to function properly. The acuator that pushes and pulls the cable is backwards from the Crx where the accord pushes for hot and pulls for cold and if I flipped the temp control over, the cable would only have 1-2'' of travel and the valve can't then open or close fully causing either 1/2 heat or 1/2 ac which ever one you choose. So I bought the odyssey climate control and will be installing it this weekend. It has sliders on the control so that it will be easierf to install. I'll keep you guys updated this weekend.

Wire colors are different for Odyssey vs. Civic, but the connector pinouts are the same.
For installation into CRX:
Fan switch connector pinouts are the same. Wiring for the control panel connector (includes function switch and recirculation switch) is as follows:
Odyssey > CRX
YEL/GRN > BLU/WHT (heat)
BLUE/RED > YEL (heat/def)
BLU > YEL/BLU (def)
BLK > BLK (ground)
GRN/RED > GRN/RED (recirculate)

LT GRN/WHT > YEL/RED (vent)
LT GRN/BLK > GRN/WHT #3 (heat/vent)

RED > RED (brightness controller)
BLU/RED > BLU/RED (A/C thermostat)

I haven't yet wired it up myself so I don't actually know if it works, but these are all the correct wires according to the Helm factory service manuals for both vehicles.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You will want to remove the green condoms from the illumination bulbs before installing, lest ye want your HVAC control lit with a green tint.

I Bought the Odyssey climate controller and followed the wiring as mentioned above and
it didn't work.
Most of my options are wrong but I didn't blow a fuse and no smoke so nothing too drastic.
I had the civic controller working 100% before I stuffed it with the Odyssey one.
What's that thing they say...if it ain't broke keep messing with it until it is...OH NO I mean LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE....LOL
I will get out there tomorrow with a multimeter and work out which wire goes where and post it here.

The pinouts are the same between the '92-95 Civic and '95-98 Odyssey connectors; only some wire colors are different. If you already had the Civic control unit plugged in and working, the Odyssey unit should have plugged right in and worked as well.
Did you change any of the wires?
In addition, I took the wiring information from the USDM service manuals. I do not know if Australian models had any differences.
Good luck and please post back your findings.

I did all the wiring again when I swapped to the Odyssey Heater, what I should have done is change the face plate from the Odyssey with the Civic and it would have been ok.
The wiring I did on the Civic was pretty poor as I used blade connectors and the contacts weren't the best.
I'm soldering it all this time.
Will keep you posted with how it goes.

Well I have the Odyssey and CRX wiring diagram and I'm trying to trace each wire on both diagrams but I can't find a CRX diagram that is clear like the odyssey one
. I'll post in a few days when I figure out the schematic
