Parents got an RDX
So my parents for the longest time have been wanting to buy a new car. Their both into SUVs, more particuarly jeeps, but when it came to replacing my moms car she wanted something more luxury. Shes wanted a Lexus SUV for the longest time.
She knows im all about Hondas, so while she was browsing I told her to hit up the Acura dealership. Eventually I ended up getting her sold on the RDX (Turbocharged K23
). Lucky for me, she fell in love with it. The only other problem was convincing my Dad (who is obviously paying for it) not to get a domestic car. My Dad is pretty closed minded. On his politics, his morals, his religion, and his cars, hes never owned an import car (other than a Fiat
) and hates how I buy jap cars. Thinks we as a people are ruining the economy by not buying American cars...
Well long story short, today they went and bought the RDX.
Didn't get to drive it or mess with it yet, my mom had to run to a doctors appointment, but I did shoot some pictures real quick. The EG is mine
...

I started it up, and rev'd it a bit. You can definately hear the turbo spooling. Which is cool, i've never owned or driven a boosted car, so its new to me. Plus, it has a boost gauge.
She also ended up getting pretty much EVERY accessory. Tech package, all the little bells and whistles. Its a ballin *** car, thats for sure. Definately happy they didn't get a Buick like they originally wanted...

I just got back from driving it around, **** is expletiveing awesome! Super amazing handling, the boost kicks in hard, popped VTEC on a local highway and my mom thought I broke something
Very sick car!

Nice color and nice choice of vehicle! This CUV is extremely fun to drive spiritly, but you can pay the price for premuim gas. Im @ 18mpg (currently). Insurance is cheaper than what it would be for my 2k civic coupe.

the buick is for a different crowd. but the enclave's style is very nice. there isn't much after that, especially if you put it againsts honda's mdx.
but for a small sport suv, the rdx is sick. i too am trying to talk my mom into buying it. but the mileage isn't very appealing. we currently have a 2000 se cr-v. we'll be changing to the dark side soon---toyota rav-4 v6.

Oh, I've driven both, usually get a TL or an RDX when I take my teg or mdx in for service as a loaner. Not a fan of the off boost throttle response, lack of remote liftgate and the ability to hold more then 2 adults for a longer trip. The gas mileage is also lacking for a 4 banger. When I looked at them, I expected more for a 37k sticker price. But like you said, if your mom likes it, that's all that matters.

If throwing a rod at 50,000 miles is better than having a Honda....
The Buick was to big for them, they don't need 3rd row seating or anything like that. Plus, its a 3.6 liter V6 that only makes like 30 more HP than a 2.3 Liter 4 cylinder. No thanks...
The inside is very nice though

The boost lag is only noticable to people that understand it. Like when I drive it, I notice the boost lag, it takes about a second and a half before it really kicks in. My mom doesnt notice at all.
She does complain about the lack of an automatic liftgate, thats her main beef with the car actually...
They ended up getting the car for about 36500 with almost every option including tech package. The only options they didn't get were the rubber floor mats, body moldings and all roof rack accessories.
Not too bad!

not the best/most logical explanation, considering the crossover from vtec to i-vtec engines.
OP. great price on the car! i believe the tech package alone is 3-4k.

off the line accelleration in D mode is pretty slow, especially between 2-3k rpm. but once you get in to the 4k rpm range it's not so bad. Sport-shift mode is a little quicker when you click it in to 1st gear. though i don't really like how slow the shifter response is between shifts at higher RPMs. I was rather disappointed about that, though i guess you can't compare a $35k car to a $250k car.
and yes, the lack of a tailgate lift is lame.

cool. i love the RDX too but the CX 7 is cheaper and have alot of similarities.
i dont blame ur mom for not getting the MDX, its almost 15G's more.
once the engine starts to break in, like almost 10k miles, gas mileag should improve but if u bought it to get almost 30mpg, wrong move.
and Morasso, tell ur dad just b/c its an import doesnt mean u are not supporting americans. alot of americans work at these dealerships and honda has more dealerships in the USA than they do in Japan (i think) plus many models are made at the honda plants which are in the US.

Thats exactly why I told her not to get the MDX, its got extra room but she doesnt need it for 15,000 bucks!
She doesnt care about gas milage, which is sad, but whatever...
She considered the CX-7, but never got around to go seeing it.
And as for my Dad, hes so opinionated he wont even care. He likes the car though.

Not sure where your getting your math for 15k from...
RDX Base - 33,195
RDX Tech - 36,695
MDX Base - 40,195
MDX Tech - 43,695
There's a 7 grand difference with those models. The RDX doesn't have anything that compares to the Tech/Ent, Sport or Sport/Ent trims.

Wrong. I'm at 21k on the odometer. gas mileage has been about the same since i got it at 42miles. 18-19city/20-21hwy.
