My 91 teg with B16 swap won't pass smog?
OK I have a 1991 acura integra with a b16 motor swap in it and for some reason I can't get it to pass smog has anyone else had this problem and if so is it possible to get my car to pass smog without spending a million dollars? Man I need some help with this problem because this is my daily driver and my temp registation tag is about to expire and I will have to get an extention and I wont be able to do that very many more times so I need to get this problem rectified so any help would be greatly appecitated.
You can pass you just need to change some parts on your car. You should post your somg numbers. How old is your cat?? You might need to replace the manifold and upgrade to OBD 1 with a us spec ECU. First gen b16 don't have EGR valves. My friend had the same problem, he had to replace the throttle body intake manifold and upgraded to a OBD1 set up.
My cat is new I replaced it after I failed the first time. I also replaced both o2 sensors. If I were to upgrade to obd1 how would I go about doing that ? Also why would I have to change my intake manifold and throttle body? Right now I'm running a Jspec ecu do you think I could just get a obd0 to obd1 jumper harness and run a us spec ecu and obd1 distributer to correct my problem?
you have to get a us spec ecu and change your injectors. There's a few things you have to upgrade. basicaly turn the motor into a us spec motor. I would go with the skunk 2 manifold because it is carb legal and it gives you performance.
this is always a problem when swapping motors. there is a shop called fn werkz i think its in santa clara. and he knows all there is to know about getting a swaped motor 2 pass smoke legally. i have have the number if you want.

US spec ECU would be needed if you are reffing the swap, yes. There is no need to change the injectors as a 91 Integra is NOT an OBD-1 platform and therefore you would not need to convert it to such. It should be able to pass as OBD-0. If he is a gross polluter then he is putting out twice the max allowed emissions. There is something else going on here.. Are you using one of the early manifold with two oxygen sensors up at the top? These systems used two primary (no secondary) O2's to control fuel. If I am not mistaken, the system would only work correclty via JDM ECU's. I have seen this setup fail on more then one case simply from incorrectly wiring the O2's.

Yes I am running an exhaust manifold with 2 o2 sensors . If I were to change to us spec do you know what ecu I would need to convert to us spec and is there anything else that I would need besides the ecu to make this convertion? I'll check my wiring but if I need to change to us spec this info would be helpful to me so if i could hook me up with this that would be very cool .

If the O2's are wired incorrectly then the car is going to run extremely rich. Did you fail on all three readings or just HC? If your car is indeed OBD0 then there are no US spec ECU's that come to mind that will solve your problem. You should be able to chip the ECU with a "US spec" program and solve the issue of the dual O2's.

HERE ARE MY SMOG RESULTS at idle HC327 , CO .55, CO2 13.50, O2 1.50 and Nox 92 now at 2500 rpms HC 135 , CO .72, CO2 13.80, O2 1.05, and Nox 177. It looks like my HC and CO2 are whats causing me to fail but the guy at the smog shop wont tell how to correct the problem so what do you think ?

I think it has a lot to do with what I am telling you... The car is running pretty rich from the numbers you have posted. You need to correct that and you should be good to go. You got the GP title I would say from the idle test, not the 2,500rpm. Anyways, you aren't chipped are you?

There are many people who offer the service. If you can't seem to find anything around, I can do the actual chipping. I don't have any OBD-0 programs however. I mostly help people out with OBD-1 and since thats what I primarly tune with, its all the BIN's I have.
