its not a lot of oil, but enough that i had to whipe off. started the motor and i watched a lil more come out, whiped it again and drove it around for a lil bit. check it later and i didnt see anything. but i want to prevent this from happening again. so i tried tighten the bolts (i didnt wanna over tighten it), the bolts were fine, is this a sign that i need a new solenoid gasket? wat are some reasons why oil comes out of there?

 

There should be a gasket there; or is the the screen I am thinking off?

Either way, it's worth a look to see if there is a gasket there. And if there is, replace it.

What engine is this one anyways?

 

the motor is a 1995 OBD1 B18C1 GSR. this is my 2nd motor i owned (previously owned a B16A1) and i never seen this happen before (so i guess it really shocked me). but then again when i bought this motor, it had more miles on it than my B16A1. so i assume the gasket/screen wears over time? how often should i replace the gasket/screen? TIA

its coming out of the top gasket, but im goin to replace both gaskets to be safe. i hope a new gasket fixes it! should i use a liquid gasket (i.e. a silicone) along when i seal the solenoid?
