Allow me...

1. GSR/B16 head, wild build! would do burnout when ya throw in second gear...
Death: drove through some water... Cold Air Intake sucked water in... broke a rod, threw half of rod connected to crank into the block jamming the entire engine, and rupturing a cylinder....

2.TypeR B18C block/LS crank/CTR pistons/Clevitte bearings/fully built ARP... never passed break in.
Death: my car was still on blocks... breaking in a lil before driving... sounded strong... like a bike... very high compression... I know its fresh rings and bearings, but lemme hear the vtec!... revvv... wow... sounds sweet... revvvvv again... white smoke... hmmm... more white smoke... pulled the head... a frikkin piston pin slipped out of a CTR piston and shaved down the cylinder wall... destroyed block. (Stupid rigged up jamaican machine shop damaged the pistons with the pin press.)

3. Build currently in process... lol... im sure it will blow sooner or later.

first b20vtec: Oil Pump went dead...bearings were flakey and almost done

2nd b20vtec w/itbs: sucked in a screw and some how a rocker assembly nut ended up in there. busted a valve seat... and pistons were like they were sand blasted.

3rd b20vtec: Still running strong

Worn out titanium retainer. Valve was running on the inner spring for a little while before the spring gave up and broke. Dropped a valve and and horrible noises came from my beautiful little 1.8
My bad for not catching it before it was too late

Cruise at 80mph (5k RPM). Drumroll type sound (piston hitting valves), rod let go before I could get the clutch in and shut it off. I believe it started about 2 weeks before that. Hell-toed into a tight downhill corner and the oil light came on and went off real fast. Changed the oil/filter after that and it all sounded fine.

Suprisingly no damage to the head other than 4 bent valves. Rod took a chunk out of the main girdle, did some work to the oil pan, some damage to the bottom of the cylinder, header escaped almost free of damage (very small ding, smaller than a BB gun BB in diameter and you can barely feel it with your finger). Rod cap was flattened.

Lmao, that hole is so big I didn't even notice it. If the other guys didn't mention it I would've been looking for a smaller hole forever

7 months at the drag strip, 8k two step, 9400 shift points, 10k street miles, stock LS rods

They stretched over time although I had them resized and arp studs put in them. We measured after tearing the motor down but I don't know the numbers off the top of my head. It was a damn good motor for what it was and I am not mad at it for dying lol, I just wanted to see what the stock rods could take and now I know.
