90 CRX cranks but wont start
i was checking for compression and when i took the spark wire from piston 4 it shut of. i tried to start it again but the engine turns over and wont start, i made it turn over to a point where the battery or something (electrical wise) was giving up, then after i would here like a million clicks coming from distrubitor. and the lights on my cluster started to dim lo. i checked all fuses and checked for spark it was all good. any body have an idea or suggestions??
BTW is their a way to check the ignition module.??

Ooo. How did you test the ignition module? I also have a 1990 CRX HF that cranks but wont start. It has decent spark, fuel, compression, and the cam is in time with the crank.
I personally suspect something wrong with the cylinder position or crank position sensors...
I just bought the car (it has 247K miles), it ran fine the first few trips. The second day I had it, i left it running outside for about 5 minutes to let it warm up. When I came back out, it was running on 3 cylinders. I immediately drove to the parts store and bought a cap, rotor and plugs. All the plugs looked fine (except number 2 was fuel wet) and the cap looked somewhat worn so I replaced it. After getting the cap and rotor installed, I fired it up and it only ran on 2 cylinders. I checked, double checked, and tripple checked the firing order and everything was right. It was then running on numbers 1 and 4, but missing on 2 and 3 (both plugs fuel wet). I decided I was going to unplug the injectors to save the cat and drive it the 2 blocks back to my house.
The next day, I drove it about a mile across town (it made it!) and parked it for the day. When I got in it to leave that evening, it cranked but would only fire on 1 hole ocassionally and didn't start. I ended up towing it back home and doing more checking. This time all the plugs were fouled, all of which had spark, and it had compression readings of 90, 110, 110, and 130 (from 1-4). In my opinion, it has good spark (blue jumping a 1/4 to 1/2" gap), fuel (enought to soak the plugs), and compression. The only thing I can think of now is that it's either not firing the plugs or the injectors at the correct time...
Any input? Let me know! I currently have the car at the local college getting looked at but I don't think they have enough experience to sucessfully diagnose it without spending a month and small fortune on it.

Eh.. I don't think so. It started today... I don't know if it was being in the heated garage or the new plugs and timing belt that did it.. I kind of suspect a wiring issue that only comes about when it's really cold (it's been in the single digits for the last week or so). I also had the 7 pin distributor connector apart checking ohm specs so maybe that disturbed something enough to fix it... I'll repost something if it acts up again.
