Autocross your S!! Pics + Video of my first autox
Going from driving a FWD to a RWD and autoxing is a little different, went to my first autox this past weekend and it was a blast! I hope you guys look up some local events and try to go to them.
Mods on car : K&N intake, cut out resonator.
Below are some pictures + video.
My first run of the day, just started raining. Worst run of the day, rode my a instructor. He gave me some good advice to follow.

Second run of the day, a friend riding passenger.

Third (best) run of the day, still some mistakes I noticed after watching the video. Didn't get a chance to run anymore on "dry" ground, started pouring afterwards.

A nice slide I pulled off in the rain

HAHAHA! I had a few friends come down from chicago that week, so I think I took them out.
Got the S2000 about a month ago

My first time autoxing the S, I have autoxed with my GSR before. My was in run group 3, it literally started raining RIGHT when our group was about to start. So we had somewhat of a wet track.
Fastest S2000 ran a 48.955 on a dry track, my fastest was a 50.921 on semi wet track. It then started pouring so we had to wait for the rain to stop
Fastest car of the day was a race prepped turbo miata that ran 46.011.
I think I would have been able to get into the low 49s, wishful thinking

I used to be this excited about auto-x until I got into HPDE...if you think auto-x is a rush wait until you really put the car through what it was really designed to do. Another thing that pisses me off about auto-x is you pay $25-30 for 3-4 minutes of driving and have to waste your entire day there doing cone patrol after your run group. Most HPDEs are in the 200-300 range and you get hours and hours of driving in a much more exciting capacity. Just my .02 but I give you credit for getting out there as it is

Nice dude. I have never auto Xed but I am trying to get into it this spring. This instructor you rode with, was he a friend or did you pay for him? I would like someone like that to ride with me and help me out my first time.

Thanks for the tip, I will definitely look into that once I am more skilled/used to the car. Going to try to go to a auto-x at least once a month until the dragon. And then I will be getting new tires and a turbo. So I might start some HPDEs after that, I know florida s2ki has been trying to set up a few events for this year hopefully.

He was a friend of mine, I was at the auto-x about 2 years ago when he first got his car. I rode in it and just had to get one, he also came from a GSR like I did
Just go to a local auto-x event, and ask around and find out who the skilled/seasoned autoxers/drivers are. People are always more than willing to sit in your car and give you tips.

Nice videos. Glad you had fun: autocrossing an S2000 on wet pavement for the first time must be pretty crazy.
I've done a lot of Solos and probably in the top 5 drivers of our club, so I have some constructive criticism:
Your hand positions need a lot of work: bring crossed up like that means you have very little contact between your hands and the wheel (she's trying to talk to you through the wheel) and you have very limited range of motion. Go back and look at the videos and see what I'm talking about. A few times your shuffled the wheel correctly, but your left hand should never get past 3 oclock, and your right should never pass 9 oclock.
You just don't have any feedback when crossup up like that, and adjustments are difficult. If you get into a steady state turn, you can move your hands to 3 and 9 oclock (the wheel is relatively still when your crossed up, so you have time to reposition). You have the most contact with the wheel and most precise movements at 3 and 9..
Props though for driving with both hands: most novices will keep their right hand on the shifter unnecessarily.

Just noticed the "lol" on the trunk
I've never ran an autox course in the rain, looks like you still had a good time
I only have one pic from sometime last September. Got 2nd place in A stock with five s2k's being the only cars in A stock that day. I lost to a red Ap1 on Hoosier R-Comps

nice vids and looks like fun.
not sure you "pulled off" the slide. but you did slide non-the-less, which is fun when you dont hit anything lol
Ive only done autox with skip barber in the formula car, with panoz in the GT car and their DSG Audi TTs, never, YET, in the s2000.
