New 3" Skunk2 Exhaust For EK Hatch
I visited Skunk2.com today to find out that they now have the Mega Power R Cat Back exhaust in 3" piping for the RSX. I am fully building a GSR to go in my 96 DX. Since Im going with a Full Race turbo kit, I will need a good 3" exhaust. The only 3" catback system Ive found is the Thermal one. I emailed Skunk 2 today and here is the results:
If you were interested, heres my car: (Big changes in the future...dont worry)

"Thank you for contacting the Helpdesk at Skunk2 Racing. There is talk of doing a 3 inch cat back for the EK hatch in the near future. However as with all skunk2 products there will be significant research and development done before it makes it into production. I can tell you that the 3 inch exhaust for the EK hatch will be available in 2008, I just can't tell you when in 2008. It will definitely be late in 2008 before anything is available. If you have any more questions regarding Skunk2 products or policy please let us know. Thanks. Brian Nichols Customer Service Skunk2 Racing 2050 5th St. Norco, Ca"

No...hahaha I just assumed that since they were bringing it out for the hatch they would do the same for the coupes. I also just wanted to let everyone know on here that there is a new exhaust in the works.

Why dont you just have an exhaust made up for the car? You can get really good results and gains and whatever look you want if you just custom make it. You can order vibrant stainless mandrel bent piping ...or just mild steel mandrel bent piping from like JC whitney or something. Then order a muffler of your choice.
Really any 3'' exhaust will make power on a turbo car. It doesn't need to be intricate like an NA car.

Yes I have thought about that. I have thought about having a trusted muffler shop bend me some 3" pipe and fit it to my car. I would like to get a Apexi N1 or HKS Hi Power muffler with a 3" inlet if I dont buy a pre fabbed cat back. I just thought I could get a catback, bolt it up, and go.

Very few muffler shops mandrel bend. They usually crush bend. Buy the tubing. Go to a speed shop...it's usually cheaper for the labor. The high performance muffler shop around here is elitist and ridiculously EXPENSIVE.

sorry for the noob question but...whats the difference between a mandrel bend and a cursh bend? i'm assuming the mandrel bend is better.

Crush bent = crappy (sounds the way it is) it crashed when bent and losed diameter and creates crinkles
Mandrel =
(smooth bends, no crinkling and keeps full diameter throughout bends)

Mandrel bend has VERY little or NO change in diameter as the metal is bent. This is good for flow for many reasons.
Crush bent...is just bent by pushing the pipe into shape. The "crush" is the part where the pipe diameter becomes smaller from bending. If you bend a straw, notice how some of it crushes and some stretches? It causes flow interruptions and sudden differences in diameter can change flow characteristics negatively.
