I'm aggressively searching for a Type-R tansmission for my '01 GSR. Can anybody give me any info, locations, names of speed/import shops that may have new/used/re-bulit ones in stock. Thank you.

 

There's always 6-8 of them on Ebay, some new some used ranging from $1000-$1700 plus shipping. You can put up a WTB ad here too but spending over a grand in this place can be risky...use a credit card through Paypal if you decide to go that route.

 

I would also HIGHLY recommend a local transaction, especially when dealing with a private party. I just don't feel good about sending this kind of money to a complete stranger. Also, you will save on expensive freight shipping. In fact, even if you have to drive a few hundred miles each way to pick it up, it is generally cheaper to do so than have it shipped. Much less risky, too.

 

However, despite the misconception that shipping is crazy money, I have shipped several trannies by FedEx ground to business addresses fully insured for around $70 or so.

 

Yeah man, I've been thinking of going the ebay route. There's always a few new ones to be had through dealerships trying to get rid of them on ebay. 1800 is a bit of cash but in the long run it may just be worth it. Thanks for the info.

 

Save yourself $500-$800 and just get a quaiffe for your gsr. Add in a jdm itr final drive and you still will be less $ and have a much better diff.
