Default bigger gas tank?

Has anyone ever thought of putting a bigger gas tank in their civic so they don't have to stop to fill up as often? I know its a crazy idea to entertain, but it is kind of nice to be able to drive say, 400-500 miles before having to fill up, as opposed to 300 or less.

Anyone know if its do-able? Discuss.

if you dont mind loosing your trunk or cutting out your floorpan and do some fab work you could always install a fuel cell most civics have a 10 or 12 gallon tank if you want to get the mile you want you would probably want to go to a 16 gallon cell keep in mind the extra weight of gas so your milage will get a little worse gas is like 6 or 8 lbs per gallon i dont remember which

that's not a bad idea to do. i get great gas mileage but 300 miles in a few days is still something i would like to get more out of

here's one... do the extra cell in the trunk and plumb it to the factory tank so it can gravity feed. find a spot for a valve you can control from the driver's seat (electroniclly controlled or cable accuated, whatever you can work out). fill both tanks at the station with the flow valve closed. when your fuel gauge drops give it a fill up on the go by opening the valve.

the idea is that you won't mess with any of the evap components and you won't have to chop the frame to pieces. the valve lets the factory tank work at the level it was intended, and then allow more gas when some has been used.

neet!!
