Finally did my first oil change since owning the S
Just finished doing my first oil change with the S @ 53K miles. I jacked it up correctly with the driver side higher so all if not most of the old oil drained out. Weather in SoCal has been very nice lately so I've been riding top down and the hard top is in storage.
Old oil & filter:
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 10w30
Fram oil filter
New oil & filter:
Castrol Syntec 0w30 GC (Made in Germany)
- very heavy 30 weight oil, superior to its U.S. counterpart
Purolator PureONE filter
Next up at 60K is the differential fluid.
Some pics:

I ♥ Castrol Syntec GC

The difference between the two oil filters:

Will be putting the hard top back on when forecasts call for rainy days.

IMO, I think Mobil 1 syn is better than the one you purchased, in fact mostly everyone that I know uses it including myself and people on this forum. Also, I think that the Fram filter is better than the one you purchased as well.

Most people on here use it because it's readily available everywhere including the 5 quart jug from WalMart...Most people also use it because that's the only oil they have known that people swear by and because of the fact that Mobil 1 is used by the Honda racing team...
I used to use Mobil 1 SuperSyn when my GSR was N/A and boosted... It used to burn off nearly 1 quart/3000+ miles. Most of the users on the oildrop forums also concur that Mobil1 tends to burn off in Honda engines. Ever since I've switched to Castrol Syntec GC (in my GSR, it burned off less oil and my car seemed to run better over all).
The bottles of Castrol Syntec I have are left overs from when I still have my Integra. From researching on bitog.com, I have concluded that:
Mobil 1 SuperSyn <= Castrol Syntec (U.S.) < Castrol Syntec 0w30 (GC/Made in Germany/European Formula)
Unless you prove me wrong that Mobil1 SuperSyn 0w30/5w30/10w30 trumps Castrol Syntec 0w30 German Made (NOT THE U.S. version!!) will I stop recommending this to people...
BTW...Do some research there

I am very aware of that. I just prefer Castrol Syntec over Mobil 1 SuperSyn. The Castrol Syntec 0w30 German Made is actually a very heavy 30 weight oil and is almost a 40 weight oil. It is superior to the Castrol Syntec 0w30 that is manufactured and made in the U.S.

I use Eneos 5w40 along with an OEM Honda filter and it works great.
Nice to see another tried and true oil out there. Ever thought about doing a baseline with the regular oil then doing a baseline with the Castrol GC?

Wait, so why did you tell us you did an oil change? Is there a reason to this thread at all?
Why are you going to run a heavy oil on such a high revving car? There's nothing wrong with burning a little oil as long as it's getting the proper lubrication. Don't hinder your car's performance in the sake of not burning oil.

I agree - some modern performance cars are designed to use a bit of oil (Audi RS4 needs oil really often) - heavy oil won't burn off, but can actually hinder performance. Of course i could be talking complete

So much hostility. This thread is also open to the discussion of different usage oils in our cars.
If I have easy access to a dyno, I would gladly do a base map dyno with regular oil vs different synthetic oils.
Royal purple & Amsoil are up there with GC. As for Eneos, the Nippon oil of Japan---Too expensive for me as I don't even do any serious tracking. Just daily driving for now.
0w30 is not heavy at all for the s2000...If anything this oil will improve valve train noise.
jdm j: I too plan to keep using this oil even when I go FI.

+2. My B-series used to drink it like cheap mexican beer. I actually blame Mobil1 for speeding up ring damage.
I for one am fine with sacrificing a few hp for the sake of the oil lasting longer. I'm not going to check my oil level weekly which was what it came down to with Mobil1.
Regular Castrol 5w-30 ftw.
