rpm noob question.

No it doesn't.
If you're looking at a spec. sheet for an engine, and you see:

... it means that the engine is producing 160 horsepower when the engine is running at 7600 revolutions per minute. Sometimes it relates what the maximum horsepower is for the engine over the entire course of the power-band, sometimes it's just rpm-relative for people to reference the power-band directly at a certain rpm.
Shifting is determined by numerous factors, including:
current speed
ideal speed (cornering)
weight transfer
and a few other things...
Basically, there's no "easy" way to tell when you should shift, as there are WAY too many underlying factors to that decision.

i got a d16y7 and when i dd i shift at 3-3.5k.some people say just full on the gear till the limiter hits but lol i aint gonna do that and risk anything.what is the y7's redline at anyone kno?
