air fuel ratio noob questions.
heya guys so i got a question on guages and hopefully u guys can help.its a noob one but can someone explain to me about air-fuel ratio?what does running lean/running rich/running stoich mean?i kno a bit that if ur running lean ur not getting the best out of ur car due to lack of o2???and if ur running rich ur burning fuel??im not sure.also what guages(a-f ratio, oil temp, etc) is recommended to keep/see my car at good condition?really appreciate it guys.
if you dont know what air fuel is i wouldnt worry about it. chances are you wont know how to change it anyhow
those autometer af gauges are ajoke anyhow. you would need a wideband for psuedo accurate readings.
stoich is chemically perfect. the right amount of fuel is being burned given the amount of oxygen present. rich is too much fuel lean is too little fuel in relation to the amount of air.
you dont really need any guages other than what your car has. an oil idiot light for when your pressure drops, a temp gauge so you know if its overheating.
additional guages would be for boost, egt, af and things like that that only become necessary after modifications are made to your car, such as adding a turbo kit.
