Default Im having such a bad idle.......

Hello, My engine wont idle below 1600rpms. Im having a mission of a time trying to figure out what it is. I checked for vacuum leaks everywhere and found nothing. I re-tightened the int. manifold and t.b. and loosened the throttle cable. The distributor is at full retard and the throttle adj. screw is completely screwed-in. i cleaned and tested the iacv to a 12v battery and it functions(clicking). When the engine idles at operating temp., there is vacuum coming from the top port(T.B.) and nothing coming from the bottom port. When i unplug the iacv connector, the engines CEL will trip a code and the engine will start surging. Im desperate at this point. Been dealing with this for 3 weeks. Please Help.

O,Its a new pcv. I also replaced the hose with a clear hose and new clamps .As i look through the clear hose, the pcv looks like its functioning(little bubbles pop directly from the elbow of the pcv). I also checked the lines going to and from the breather chamber box. I inspected the o-ring that is sandwiched between the block and breather chamber box also.It look fine.
any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

CAREFULLY stick your finger in the TB with the car on, put your finger over the top hole, if the idle drops you have the wrong gasket on there....

i cut my own gasket out back in the day..but try the ITR gasket..

have you tampered with the little valve assembly under the TB?

ooops look like you said it's new.

i would still take it off and make sure it's tightened all the way in... do you have coolant still running through it or did you bypass it/

Have you checked the injector seals? Could be leaking around the injector.

I took the pcv valve off. the valve leaks as i blow through the stem. Air flow is regular as i suck through the stem. Im gonna replace this tomorrow.

didnt u post this thread? is this the same pic on ur old post of ur intake manifold?
If so that white vaccum cap on the top right its suppost to go your fuel pressure regulator that will cause idleing problems

might be using an obd2 gasket on an obd1 throttle body.

I just changed the pcv valve....and it didnt resolve the idle. I also switched the fpr vacuum line from the fuel cut-off soleniod(obd0) to the int. manifold spout(obd1) and no change in the idle. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Brick Top &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

gonna try cleaning the **** outta the iacv.what a mission!
