Radiator electric fan not working.
I have 91 Accord EX. The radiator fan never comes on. I noticed 6 months ago, i got busted hose and temp went up almost red line. Only the secondary (A/C) fan kicked on. I tested the radiator fan by connecting it directly to battery, it worked fine. Could it be the relay? where is the relay. Or Sensor? location?
Thanks,
Thanks,
There's a fan switch you can check, and also there should be a little black box that controls the cooling fan (I know a Prelude has one
).
).
I am mostly familiar with Preludes, but Accords are very similar. There should be 2 green plugs on the engine that are the fan switches. They stand out pretty well....
On a Prelude, the black box is next to the ECU on the passenger side floorboard. It basically controls the fan and if you unlug it the car will overheat.

I am having a similar issue. 1993 EX..
The car will overheat with the a/c on in traffic.... Car does not overheat at other times...even if sitting still for a long time on hot days.
The fan on the driver's side comes on with the A/C button.
The fan on the passenger side does not come on with the A/C button.. I've been told that the passenger side fan is the main fan?
I jumped the passenger side fan straight to the battery and it worked just fine. I did notice some corrosion in the plug that is connected to the car.
I just swapped the 15A fuse for the condenser fan and no change.
I also swapped the two relays in the fuse box (window and fan relays) as they both at the same relay and no change. Windows still go up and down as well.
The A/C works fine.. recent charge with Freeze 12... A/C is cold, clearly the compressor is working.
I presume that either that is a short in the wiring or a problem with a relay or sensor. I am looking for the location of any sensor that turns this fan on as well as the name/location of any other relay I have not mentioned.

Check the following fuses:
1. #25 (20A) in under-hood fuse/relay box.
2. #7 (7.5A) in under-dash fuse/relay box.
3. #30 (15A) in under-hodd fuse/realy box.
If all the fuses are alright:
check the radiator fan relay. This relay is located in the under-hood fuse/relay box. It is the middle one of the three relays closed to firewall.
check Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) switch A which is located in the T-stat housing.
