Default PowerStreet in '08?

I am just wondering who plans on running this class in 08? I hear all this talk about sfwd getting out of hand for the average racer (which I agree) yet I hear no one talking about this class. As I see it PS offers pretty much what everyone has been saying they would like to see sfwd be. It has turbo limits (67mm), tire limits, and overall is pretty much setup for true street cars. The rules are broad enough to allow almost any combo yet restrictive enough to allow competitive racing. So why so little interest?

With the proposed rule changes to make sfwd and T4 one class (only one seat, no exhaust, etc.) I see the class moving further away from its street roots. I understand changes are necessary to accomodate both sfwd and T4 racers in one class but I was dissapointed when I first read the proposed changes. Honestly it killed a lot of my interest in the class both as a spectator and potential racer. This dissapointment is what drove me to see what the alternatives were. Thats when I took another look at the PS rules and liked what I saw.

Why so much talk about a "limited" sfwd and no talk about PS?

Thoughts/comments?

yep only an all motor nerd in his daily civic strips all his interior out and has one seat with no console or carpet. These classes need to stay sfwd ish, it JUST MAKE SENSE. I like powerstreet and my SFWD trim car COULD compete in it.

I plan on racing Power Street next year. I just don't think I'll be competitive enough in the Turbo Street/SFWD/T4 class yet. Trying to qualify is going to be insane at some of the big events.

I'm excited either class I run as long as I have good competition.

Don't take this wrong, but I think in power street these types of gear sets and trannies should be illegal. As well as turbos limited to a 61mm T3

But, back on topic; I love this class and want it to keep growing in interest so we can make it a 32 car field! And have it be full!</TD></TR></TABLE>Dont hold your breath

I like the idea of the Power Street class having some stricter rules. It wouldnt hurt in my opinion to have a rule on the tranny as well. Not all of us can dump $983434958 into our civic hatchback and would like to be able to actually compete with what we got. That is one reason I have lost interest in the sport again, because right when I thought that I could almost be competitive, I realized that I cant compete at this point on my budget.

In my opinion I would love to see a full class of mid to high 10 sec full street cars running all out. A class where half the competitors drove their car to the track, beat the life out of it, and then drove it right back home.

oh by the way I have yet to break a tranny in my car........Im thinking my time is limited!!! hehe

Powerstreet is not about the fastest car or the most powerful car. Thats whats so cool about the class.

I cant wait for the class. I just want to get a clutch to hold the power I make and I will be happy on the M&H bias plys. as rick said it isnt about the fastest but when you have low to mid 10second AWDs and civics on a 67mm or less turbo us integra guys have a tough time keeping up. I know my car is every bit of 2850 with the cage and full interior.

I wish there was someone out there to sponsor me to help me out a little. It sucks to be on such a budget that a truck is really almost out of the question now. If I cant find some help on a clutch or other misc parts and a cheap reliable truck I am goin to sell the car to someone who will enjoy it. Dont get me wrong that I love to take the car on the street in the exact trim I run at the track, but just wish there were some sponsors for this class that really wanted to step up and help the grassroots guys make the events

No one ever said it was against the rules, I just said I would like to see them keep them out of the class due to cost reasons. I know you have grenaded trannies, but I certainly had no problem with my stock gears. So it can be done.

I'm all about dog boxes, but it is an obvious advantage wouldn't you say?</TD></TR></TABLE> Having a LIGHT car helps... So you've never broken a trans?

Maybe my 200+ passes this year???

Jugding by the past it doesnt look to be an advantage.

My car was actually only 2300 lbs, didn't break it all season and the car that has it now is loving it too

I broke a D-series trans back in the day, that was my fault though.

But come one, a dog box is not an advantage? If Loan or that DSM had one, it would be game over for the class lol I just don't think the right car has had them in it yet, I'm sure you would dominate with one for sure. Nothing wrong with that!</TD></TR></TABLE>THE DSM HAS ONE.

He had it ALL YEAR LONG.

I'm not saying there is ANYTHING wrong with having one. I'm not saying it's illegal per the Ryan Smith rule book, and I'm certainly not condemning their use.

I just don't think they should be allowed in that class.

But with that being said...how is the DSM not at an advantage since he has one? That car hauls lol</TD></TR></TABLE>

He didnt win one race these year did he? NOPE
Yes the car is fast but it was fast the year before without a dogbox and won a few that year also.

You are argueing a mute point, because aftermarket gears will be allowed.

Anthony broke stupid stuff that held him back. Believe me if he could keep axles and transfer cases together it would win all day every day.

Rich would have destroyed the whole field at MIR had he had his lic. cause he went 10.4 all day. and that was on true street radials.

I agree with Ryan the dog box should be out. IMO power street is about the driver not the money or the power
