Default '91 sedan ex -- it's a project all-around!

Haha, this car is definitely a project. I got this car as a gift from my boyfriend's father, as I didn't have a car & this has been sitting out front of his house for 3 years and hadn't moved an inch -- apparently the county didn't like that too much and it just worked out in my favor to get this thing on the road.

As you can see in the pictures, the biggest problem & the first fix is the RUST. The rust is horrible, it's almost embarrassing to show. But maybe I can get some feedback on how to repair the biggest damage. We've filled the driver's side with Bondo, but the passenger side is a bit too big to just fill in and there'd be no support behind it so we're gonna leave it to his Dad to figure out for us unless I can get some ideas here?

After that, I believe I'm going to do the cosmetics. I obviously need a new hood as the previous driver rear-ended someone. I'm thinking about going with a carbon fiber hood & black wheels and eventually getting the car painted...not sure what color, it depends on who/where I get it done. And when I'm done with that, who knows where it'll go as my pockets are thin and I don't really need the car for "performance"....

I don't really know too much about cars but hopefully I can pick-up a thing or two around here.

The last one is the one we're going to have the hardest time filling because there's really nothing to adhere too and we have no idea what we can use for support. SO, maybe if you have any ideas or tips...? Thanks

[EDIT] Had to repost the pics ~ my bad! [/EDIT]

OK the Bondo job is actually quite pathetic & WILL be getting redone. I guess I can say "At least he tried!" huh? LoL

Like they said you are better off trying to get all the rust out by cutting it out, and then weld a piece of sheet metal where the rust ate away. Then go over it with some filler just to smooth it out. That would be your best bet.

I think in the long run that will be what we end-up doing because this car is not worth spending the money on to take it to a shop -- not that I would have the money for that anyway. Right now, we're really just trying to get it to pass inspection. My boyfriend's Dad has it at his shop right now & it's supposed to be getting inspected & hopefully the guy lets it pass because obviously it's gonna get fixed, no way in hell am I going to drive around with my car looking like this. The Lincoln we're driving is wayy too expensive anymore ($80 a week in gas = killer). SO, unless it passes I'm look for a temporary quick fix, and if it passes then luckily my brother-in-law works at a sheet metal fabricator & can weld.

Tell me about it! I had a '94 EX that had twice that and hardly any rust at all. I wish I knew more about the people who owned the car before my "father-in-law" -- then maybe I'd understand why it looks that way! This **** goes all the way to my trunk. I guess since I paid nothing I can't complain TOO much, but it's really proving to be a pain in the ***.

I'm definitely a girl.

that's really not the greatest of pics
but I'm @ work so my choice is limited
@ the moment. I'm on the left,
& my man is on the right..
doesn't he look just thrilled?

&& hopefully fixing this ugly thing up tonight...
or temporarily anyway, since my boyfriend is
a expletiveing lazy *** and decided to wait until
the last minute to do it. then next weekend
i will have my bro-in-law REALLY fix it and
actually weld the **** on there.

I'm getting ready to repost the links to the pics now, my bad. I need to take pics of the most ghetto cover-up job in the world!

Between it being so expletiveing cold in MD, and the fact that my man is real pressed on finding a freaking GTI ~ I get no help unless I don't shut up about it & actually get everything together myself. I will post some pics soon.. I just found out that one of my springs is cracked so that will be the first thing I replace!
