cold air intake
i know there are tons of intake threads but they are all mostly short rams. so what do you think would give more power K&N CAI or a AEM CAI or like Injen CAI

Rip out that resonator while your airbox is off and no filter in the way. Just make sure you install a bypass for if you reach hydrolock situations. All that stuff is dead weight and

Get an AEM Dry Filter instead and a bpi flowstack

Heres my two bits on the Intake situation.
I dont trust CAI for the money its worth. If that thing sucks up water and hydro locks your motor, well that extra 3 hp wasnt worth it.
SRI is safe enough.
By all means if you live in dry climate area go with CAI

i'm in Florida. Quite possibly one of the wettest places in the states and i've never had a problem with cold air intakes. As long as you open your eyes and your not a moron trying to cross a river, you will be fine.
the motor isnt going to hydrolock if some water splashes onto the filter.
plus the cold air gives a nice little peak of power right around 3500 that is quite enjoyable.

100% Agree, Florida sucks sometimes, but no issue!

yeah i dont understand how people hydrolock their motor with a CAI...i had my Injen intake for like 2 years and ran over so many small puddles and never had a problem...you've gotta be pretty much in a crazy flood with the intake submerged in the water to hydrolock...

it can be an issue with some hondas, the prelude isnt an issue because there are no bends in the pipe that allow water to settle.i was talkin with a guy who had an s2000 with a cai and it had a bend that allowed water to settle in the pipe and it was enough that when he started the car water went right in and hyrdo locked it
that guy with the s2k must have went through a lot of water cuz my inner fender cover that blocks most of the water from my CAI has been out for a while and even when it rains heavily for the most part all that happens is i suck up minimal amounts of water and the car starts smoking white for a couple hours.
Hi my name is M2B4 and ive been 2 years water free with my CAI. I think this hydro-locking from cai is ridiculous. Ive had mine on for 2 years now my brother has used cai for geez like 6 years. No problems in this house. I did have a friend who hydro-locked her car, but she drove into a deep puddle (up to bottom of her frame) that completely submerged the filter. That I would chalk up on the side of user error not product malfunction.
Oh and edit I would recommend looking in the new AMSOIL dry filters paired with a flowstack. Im going to buy one these next time I dont want to clean my K&N filter. Im loving my recent switch to AMSOIL products. 0w30

my remark to that is this. I have a 6" filter sitting just shy of the bottom of my lip. Had to cut out the section of plastic lining to get the filter to fit in there and ive yet to see any problems.
Sum it up BIG filter...CLOSE to road...NO protection. Works for me

sometimes water is unavoidable. for instance. i was in NY and i took an exit off of one of the expressways. one lane and tons of traffic behind me. little did i know there was some sort of drainage problem and i ended up heading towards about a foot of water lucky for me there was an entrance into a shopping comp;ex about 20ft after the water. i made it through the worst and was in the parking lot. i was driving to an empty spot and i gave it some gas, well it must have been just enough throttle to sucks water into my engine. next thing you know my car is dead in the middle of one of the lanes. LUCKILY i let it sit for a minute and then started it up and it idled like absolute **** for about 5 minutes. went home, changed my plugs and everything was good to go
. i learned my lesson, no cold air for me.
i think the stock intake is WAY under rated. remove the resonator box and throw in a K&N. if someone hadnt stole my stock intake id have it back on by now.

I got an AEM CAI with a Air Bypass Valve. Some people say "those things never work" but I always remember the ultimate test that they did with it. One of the major car magazines had a team go talk with the guy who invented the AEM bypass valve, who happens to own an NSX. They told him "if you are so confident about your product, then let's test it on your own car."
THEY DID. They took an extended pipe from the intake leading outside the NSX, and just dunked the filter into a fishtank full of water, while the engine was running. At the end of the test, the NSX was still running, with no problems at all. The thing to take away from this is that IT WORKS!
if u don't believe this, look it up. I've read the article myself online, and also somebody told me theres a video of this somewhere.
So if your going with a CAI, get the bypass valve. and for good measures, dont drive across rivers lol. u have a prelude not a jeep with a snorkel on it lol

i hear you lose power with the bypass valves. does anyone kno this for sure. or a dyno. a dyno might be too extreme tho because if you lose power, i doubt it would be a lot. maybe like 1/2whp. but others say u gain more power at higher rpms because air starts coming in the valve along with the filter.

I got a AEM cai and filter on my lude, no bypass. Its been on the lude for about 6 months now and i have had no problems at all. I have noticed a definate mild increase in torque and power. Just remember you cant traverse a flooded road and you will have no probs, if you are worried about it then get the bypass. I have driven in very very heavy rain and no probs at all, but i will never risk crossing a flooded road. I also never drive on dirt roads cause ludes are not off road vehicles, thats what 4x4 s are made for and i dont want to rattle the sh*t out of my lude. I have a friend with ebay piping and a K&N filter and he has had no probs with his setup either. So i basically recommend AEM OR K&N filter. Install is easy, took me about 3 hours cause i am a bit of a perfectionist and wasnt in a rush. Goodluck with it
