4k can get you a boosted LS motor. With proper installation and tuning, it can be as reliable as any other N/A setup.

b18c just because you will have less headaches than the other 3 options.

Since when are H-series trannys unreliable?
H2B adaptations are for performance purposes, not generally for reliability ones.

h2b is for performance purposes since i cant really pass smog with a b20vtec cuz i live in cali and the b18c will cost me to much because i want NA and it is a 1.8L im probably will just go with a h22 type s

in all the expierences ive had with H trannys i think they suck. the synchros always go in 5th and reverse with the quickness. but thats just me either way h22 ftw as the v8 guys say there is no replacement for displacement when building a Na care especially true.

I def. see where your coming from, but to be honest, ive never heard of many H-series tranny problems at all. Also, the H2B kit saves you from the cable conversion that H-series tranny's use.

I am in the same boat as well, cant decide between the h22 or b18c1. My will also be daily driven to school and work. So reliability is a must.

Hmm....thats a tough one there honestly. IMO I think I'd go with a b18c but thats seriously almost your entire budget if not all. I like h22s but they dont just swap right in like b-series.

it also depends if u want boost or NA if u want boost obvious the b18c is better but if u want NA h22a it is because since the b18c comes with low displacement it will cost u more to build tht with a good amount of power but if u want it boost thts ur best choice

go drive an EM1 with each of these engines in it. if you don't know someone with such a car then go make some friends. if you find that one of these swaps doesn't exist, then do that one. be different.

B20 won't pass BAR due to being a light truck engine. So scratch that off. I say H22, but what B18C are you referring to? SiR-G or Type R?

you should be less narrow-minded, although i understand where you're coming from. YOu have an Em1 with a motor most people already want. Work with what you've got.

I have an h22 in ek and its my daily driver. I didnt get my h22 to race, but to be able to move in traffic when some jerk wont let you into the other lane.
