can you easily replace the inner tie rods on a manual rack? my rack is all messed up right now. i have a power one to swap in, but i really dont want power steering... can anyone bestow their knowledge upon me??
I am in the same situation. If i find out anything i will let you know. I have something that looks like a tie rod puller.
I am looking for a step by step to do the inners cause i never tried doing them before

It wasnt a lie, your may have to remove the gear bellows and get into the inner ties that way, most part stores sell special tools to remove the inner ties once you get the bellows off but make sure to mark the amount of threads that you put in so that you can get the new ones in about the same amount.
Good luck :-)

Get an alignment. Don't be cheap. Even slight toe in or out will wear tires faster than camber change. Yes, you have to remove the bellows boots. It's really not that hard. If you've ever changed a CV axle then I would say it's on the same difficulty level. Just get the inner tie rod tool. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. If you really want to have fun consider the quaiffe short ratio steering rack for you Civic. The ratio is reduced from 4:1 to 3.25:1. Yes, it's kind of a bitch in parking lots, but worth it when really driving. Good luck.
YOU DON'T NEED A SPECIAL TOOL.
Pull off the outer tie rod end, then remove the boot to give access to the inner tie rod end. I don't know the exact size but I just unscrewed it out of the rack with an adjustable wrench.

I just did it today.... The only thing that took me so long was trying to get the boot off because i couldn't get to the clip... Go to honda and buy new boots... Then just rip the other ones off. Then it is as easy as unscrewing it and putting a new one in. I used channel locks but an adjustable would be just as easy
