Brake pedal goes all the way down, no resevoir fluid leak, no apperant line leaks???
Yesterday my brakes on my 88 CRX HF were feeling spongy on the first pump that would softly go down but on the second pump it would stay firm. So I drove it like this and then later on my way back the pedal would just go down all the way no matter how many pumps I did to the pedal.
It barely grabed at all...I had to use the engine to brake. I don't want to drive like this anymore on it so I looked at the master cylinder and besides the fluid residue surrounding the booster there doesn't seem to be any leaks and I checked the fluid resevoir and it has plenty of fluid on there.
Any suggestions as to what to do/check???? Thanks for the help guys.
I forgot to add that the brake pads themselves are fine too.

Do the symptoms indicate that? I thought a busted master cylinder would cause leaks all over the place...sorry I am not that familiar with master cylinders.
Thanks

Thanks
I thought so too but I would expect the brakes to grab after pumping them if it was just air in the lines but pumping lots of times doesn't make a difference at all anymore.
the same thing is going on with my 88 crx si. I bled the brakes and found little air in the system. However i had no fluid coming from the front drivers side brake line to the caliper. So i need to buy this and hopefully that is it.
Just wanted to update this by saying I got a $20 master cylinder and put it in and problem fixed!
Just as an fyi, I didn't know about the special brake/fuel line wrench which I got one at Kragens for like $7 but the cheap thing was flexing open around the brake line so it was starting to round the brake line, so I had to go to Sears to buy a forged craftsman set that did the trick just fine!
Now the brakes are perfect!
