They are blipping the throttle. The guys at the back of the car are holding it down so it does not jump off the stands.

a pop is an understatement. its more like a small bomb. lol you can be a few hundred yards away and it will still startle you, now you can see why the person taping it 5 feet away almost fell over.

So what im looking for is more of a technical explination. I can understand they are seating the clutch, but its not just a fact of them blipping the throttle. its like there a ton of timing advance...almost like an antilag situation, but i know thats not whats goin on. So what is goin on when they do this?

Thats not seating the clutch. The tires never move. That seems more like something went wrong. Not to wrong because nobody seems to worried about it. Thats to short of a blip to seat the clutch. maybe they are testing the fuel valve. Or throttle response.
As for seating a clutch.
Just like when you put a new clutch in your car you have to break it in. you have to do the same thing to a slipper clutch. You want all the surfaces to mate as close a possible.
The way you do that on a fuel car or any other car when you can drive it for 500 miles is to put it under load. You will grab as much break as you can and let the clutch pull down the motor or pull through the brakes. When on stands the weight of the car will not help so the grab brake and than rev the motor.

I think you need to watch the video again because the tires do move.

You are right. They do move! Dont know what i was looking at last night. Thats still not enough to seat the clutch. it is a very fast throttle burp.

Yes it is.. And that's what they do.
