1990 Honda accord ex steering pump question.
About a year ago, my car began to make a bad noise at higher speeds when I would turn the wheel. Like a squealing noise. This was accompanied shortly by a severe leak under my car. Mechanic told me it was a bad steering pump and I had it replaced with a used one. Noise was gone.
Now the noise has returned. Like exiting off a clover leaf or something. No leak however. I thought it was the used pump that went bad. I swapped it out with a used one from the dalvage yard. The noise is still there.
The res. is full, but the fluid that is in the system is dirty. Looks like motor oil. I am uncertain if the garage that replaced the first pump used honda ps fluid. When I replaced this used pump. I added some honda fluid as I lost some in the swap.
Any ideas as to what is causing the noise? Should I flush out this old fluid. Could that be the problem? Steering does not appear to be effected and at low speeds the noise is not detectable. What are the chances that this pump is shot as well?
Any other info needed to help, please post in response..
thanks.....
