Default My '95 GSR ready to go into the booth!

I'm pretty excited about my new paint job, so I figured I'd post pics of the car all ready to go.

It should be getting sprayed as I type this!

My car:

'95 GSR

All motor rebuild 11:1 CR, type-r cams, p&p head, blah blah blah

ITR 5-lug, suspension, 23mm rear sway with beaks kit, NSX brakes all four corners.

JDM front, JDM type-r doors, shaved rear quarter molding, antenna hole, gsr spoiler holes, and rear squirter. I did as much body work as I felt comfortable with, and lots and lots of sanding.

Hardwork & Before Bodywork:

Ready to be sprayed:

I'll post more pics after paint. Let me know what you think!

make sure to tape off under the hood near the fenders or else your going to get crazy overspray between the hood and the fenders at the crack/gap... same goes for rear hatch

Thanks for the tip, however, it's probably too late now. I'll have to try to clean it up when the car's all done.

It's an autobody abbreviation for remove and install.

Ah, yes, I did all of that. Since the doors were off of a JDM ITR, I had to remove everything (molding, wiring, power windows) in order to paint the inner frame black. I had to switch over all the US stuff so I retained the auto down window on the driver side and to match up to the US harness.

After the initial primer, he sprayed on a light coat of black and we block sanded the whole car. It should be smooth as glass when it's done.

He should be cutting and buffing it Monday as long as nothing was wrong with the paint.

Turns out the paint was all fish eyed, he's sanded it down and is spraying it again today/tonight.

Hopefully this coat will turn out better.

is this a real body shop doing the painting?
did you primer yourself? depending on the type of primer you used and the paint he is using..... is why its fish eyeing. also hopefully they used the right kinda prep solvent that would also cause fish eyeing.
and what kinda paint job? single stage enamel or base coat clear coat, laquer based...? all things that shoudl be discussed if you primered the car yourself...

good luck.. wish i had a project going right now

Yes, it's a real body shop It's a small shop, finding good auto shops in the midwest isn't easy.

He's done all the spraying, I've helped sanding and taking the car apart on weekends. The first spray he thinks the gun was contaminated or that he laid the base down too heavy. He's using spies-hecker base, I'm not sure what clear. The clear is $$$, three coats.

Second time around laid out great, this is before any buffing:

Hopefully I'll have more pics after this weekend!

Spent all of yesterday wet sanding, did the whole car with 1000 and then went back over it with 2000. Only got around to buffing one front fender, but it looks great!

Going for a very clean look, but will probably be in some shows as my friend goes to a lot of them. I would like to do some driving events as well. I'm also building a K24 block in my basement, but have a lot to go on that.

Here's some crappy cell phone pics, my camera battery died.

Thanks for the compliments, don't know what the grand total is yet but it's not gonna be cheap . Car's been worked on on and off for about 6 months.

Finished pics of the paint job can be found in my build thread I made:

There's a little final wetsanding that needs to be done, but overall I think it turned out great.
