Default RE: Converting from automatic transmission to standard transmission

Hello Everyone,

I have a 93 Honda Civic with an automatic transmission and I would like to convert it to a standard transmission from a 92 Honda Civic. Earlier last year my 92 Honda Civic was totaled. My 92 Honda Civic has 150,000 miles. When I removed the clutch and looked at the disk it looks very good. I would like to know if it's a good idea to replace the clutch and thru out bearing or can I just replace the clutch disk? Also would I have to change the harness ? Are there any electrical changes I have to make? Thanks.

Cheers to an older gentleman who is messing with a Honda auto to manual project

To someone lying about their age.

Anyway, it seems like you are saying that the clutch has 150k on it. I can't recomend reusing it, regardless of the aparent condtion. Image for a minute: you get the car swapped to manual shift, motor is in, runs and starts fine and it feels good to shift with a stick. A week or two latter, the clutch starts to slip. Now you gotta (probably) wait for a new clutch pack, tear off the tranny and replace the damn assembly just because you tried to save $150+/-. Not worth it. Oh and yes, replace BOTH bearings while you're in there.

As for your electrical questions, do us and yourself a favor and search the archives. The info is there.

I never lied about my age...and would like to think that age shouldn't be a factor in Honda projects...since when did fiddling with Honda's become exclusively for the "under 30's age group" ? Wouldn't you agree? You can say Honda's are a bad habit that I --"A Older Gentleman"-- have been unable to kick... I was briefly distracted by tractors and riding mowers but I always seem to find my way back to a Honda project....I hope to be able to complete this one..thanks for the pointers with the archives.
