A little help please.
hey guys, i have a kinda wierd task and am looking for any help i can get. my friend has an 88? prelude. i think 88, its that body style, and has a fuel injected 2L sohc motor. this car is a fully gutted and caged race car for a circle track. the problem is, we need to keep the engine stock, at least looking stock. bumping compression, a cam/upgraded valvetrain, exhaust sytem, etc has all been thought of so far, but we dont want anything to be too noticeable. because i do not know a whole lot about this particular car i need some help. any suggestions would be great. if there is a larger, or dohc motor that came in this car as a factory upgrade, we would be able to get away with it, but any other kind of swap is not permitted in the current class. the car is also having a problem with cutting fuel at 5k rpm, which makes it hard to keep up. any suggestions pertaining to improving the current car would be appreciated. right now it weighs in at 1400 with a driver
thanks a lot
thanks a lot
So what do you exactly want to know?
What are you plannng on doing with car?
Why do you need to keep it stock?
From what it sounds like, you have a car with no motor that weighs 1400 with the driver in it. You want to build a race car with a stock looking motor. But swapping any other motor in the car is not an option.
Just out of curiosity, why can you swap any other motor in and why do you need it stock looking?

no sorry if i wasnt very clear, it sounds confusing. we have a 86 (i found out) prelude that weighs 1400 with a motor and driver. in the class that the car is being raced, it needs to have a stock engine. the other guys in the class all have an advantage because they are using 6 cyl cars, which is allowed. our advantage is weight, but if we could add a little more power to our current motor, we would have a better chance. the rules state that the engine must be the one that came in the car, and it must be a stock motor. i asked about any better motors that were available as an option for this chassis from the dealer, so if when being inspected, the motor would come up as factory option and we would be allowed to use it. also, they only take a glance under the hood, and do not really check anything else. that means internals can be changed and anything they will not notice can be done.
i guess you could say we are trying to cheat, but we want to see how far we can take it without being disqualified. the guys who look over these during inspection are v6/8 guys and have no real idea as to what they are looking at, so it just has to look relatively stock.
thanks guys

Found that in the FAQs. There are probably more links in there if you look.
