Try wetsanding with 1500 grit and buff it with a polishing compound first....

It's pretty common with Carbon Fiber parts that have a clearcoat.

yes, it will not be a tough repair but make the fiber underneath is untouch, or it will need some resin/fiber work=more money

I just wanted to update this thread. I got 95% of all the defects cloudiness out of the hood via polishing with orbital and polish. I feel that a good wet sand and maybe a rear clear would clear the remaining 5%.

The hood is a VIS. I'm not really sure what the root cause of this problem is. Maybe the gelcoat does not have enough UV protection?

Same thing happened to my hood, aslo VIS. What did you use to take off 95% of the cloudiness?

Menzerna Polishes (SIP and 106ff). I used a Porter Cable Random Orbital with orange (for the SIP) and white (for the 106ff) Lake Country foam pads.

If the spots reappear this summer then I think the problem is the shitty gelcoat they put on the hood. I don't think the "gelcoat" is very UV resistant and is causing the spots.

Also you should be able to tell whats actually a defect in the hood and whats a defect in the clear/gel. Some defect simply can't be removed by just polishing/sanding.
