first: the Z1 is a VTEC engine. It's VTEC-E. 12V/16V switchover to enhance swirling and improve fuel mileage at lower RPMs.

second: the P05 only way a P05 will ever set CEL41 is if it's chipped with an incorrect chip, CEL41 is for O2 heater which the P05 does not have the hardware for. (ie disabled in the stock config)

third: sell the 5-wire O2, pick up a one wire O2 for a fraction of the price

fourth: the Z1 will require a good tune to keep it running well on anything other than the P07.

fifth: unless your P05 has the VTEC hardware added you're basically running a CX power wise. Maybe even less than that.

sort of. the P07 is going to require a lot more work to get to work right.
You may be better off to do the swap now and get that running right to pass emissions.

I'm not saying that the Z1/P07 combo will not work, but if you have to do wiring work, why not doing it once and be done with it.

It sounds like someone did a swap to ty to get higher fuel economy from a CX, but didn't do it right. Now you live in California, right? If so, then there is a good chance you would have to go to the referee to smog ths setup ANYWAY. So you might as well just swap right now and THEN go to the ref. This will save you MUCH time and effort.
