Default How to wire up a tweeter to my amplifier with 2 rear speakers only.

I previously had a JLB Loud Clear 4Channel Amplifier running the inside speakers of my car. The amplifier put out 50Watts per channel. I had my 2 rear 6x9 speakers connected to the amplifier, and one tweeter up front. The tweeter for the other side was bad, so I only run one tweeter in the front.

I had independed control of the tweeter volume and used high pass filter on the amp to run the tweeter. For the rears, I just run them flat setting. I have a 10" sub in the trunk connected to another amp, but I have a on-off switch and I turn it off for normal driving, but turn it on when I want that extra 'thump'.

My amp is kicking the dust, so I need a new one. I think my main criteria is that it puts out 50Watts per channel of clear quality sound. The JBL was really clear, and the tweeter played really well. I had good tweeter control by turning down the trebble on the deck, and able to turn up the tweeter by just adjusting the trebble.

I am now considering Alpine MRP-F240 as a replacement.
This puts out 40Watt x4 at 4ohms.
If I bridge it, I can get 100W x2 at 4ohms.

I was wondering if I could just bridge it to run my 6x9s in the rear, and then just connect the tweeter to one of the channels. Would this cause any issues in my setup?
I considered this possibility, because there are a lot of 'component speakers' that comes with the tweeter build in just like this. I would loose the independent adjustability of tweeter. I would also be sending 100Watts to the tweeter. That might be too much power for it. I would not be able to 'filter' the highs directly to the tweeter.

Would it be possible to connect the two rear speakers bridged, and just connect the tweeter to one channel? Would this affect the bridging?
In theory, I would want 40Watts going to the tweeter, and 100Watts to each rear speaker. Even if one of them decrease in power a non-noticeable little amount from connecting the tweeter like this, it wouldnt be that bad. What do you guys think? Can this setup work?

Do you think the 40Watts from this Alpine is better than 50Watts from the old JBL? I tried a old 40Watt JBL, and it sounded like crap, so I didnt buy it.

Why would you want to "bridge" two 6x9s in the first place? That's besides the point, of course......but if I were you, I would get a nice 4-channel amp to run your door speakers. JL Audio makes nice 4-channel amps and they are reasonably priced.

I think you mis-took what I said. I am trying to get a 4-channel amp. I have 2 rear speakers, so I would bridge two channels from the amp to go to each speaker, making 100Watts to each speaker instead of 40Watts. I only have one tweeter up front. No front speaker. I would like to just connect the tweeter to one of the two bridged connections from the amp. So, 2 channels from Amp bridged as one, twice... On one of those bridged connections, I connect Left rear speaker. On the other bridged connection, I connect Right rear speaker + tweeter that is installed in right front of car.

Does this make sense? would this work? I woud be getting 100Watts per channel to each rear speakers instead of 40Watts per channel to each rear speaker. Would this be too much power for my speakers? I think I have mid-priced speakers. They play really nice, but probably not the absolute BEST money can buy.

It would still be okay to wire up the way you have it...just as long as there are inline capacitors/filters for the tweeters. A while back, I have seen a guy use high wattage Precision Power amplifiers to run his tweeters. 500watt amps on tweeters is impressive!!

Okay, so now that it is established that this bridging of a 4 channel amp with the tweeters can work, What do you think of the amp I mentioned?
The Alpine MRP-F240 ? It cost about $60-$80-$100 on ebay.

Is this a worthy amp for the price?

I have now purchased the Alpine MRP-F240.

I would like to know what settings should I use on my setup?
