Default Honda Tuning Section on K20Z3

I just went to borders today and read the new Honda Tuning Mag it had a 2 page section about the K20Z3 it was pretty amazing. Shows differences Between the K20A and K20Z3 and It also talks about Hondatas Kpro and how its better for K20z3 owners to get the Hondata reflash Instead. The SI they tested was at 194whp with AEM intake, DC Sports headers, and DC Sport Exhaust. Then with hondatas reflash they made 30 more hp. You guys have to read about it.. very hard to believe.

I think Hondas are great. I just think Honda Tuning isn't for me anymore.

All of the "news" is out of date by the time the mag comes out. Half of their projects end up disappearing without explaination (although they have admitted to blowing a few motors, namely the b16 stroker they built from stock parts).

Rotating editors and columnists ftl.

Getting my magazine 3 weeks after it hits the newstands is retarted. Some months I wouldn't get anything and sometimes I would get the march issue before the february issue (for example). I was a subscriber for 3 years and enjoyed the magazine. I just have no use for it anymore.

The review on the Hondata reflash sounds good but, it's almost $700 with no top end gain.Insted I'm looking for advice on motor work for my 08' SI. I wanna do a port and polish on the head and put in cams. Anyone done anything like this yet?

"K20Z3-06Si ECU flash program 8600 rpm REV limit - $595"

not quite $700

http://www.hondata.com/reflash_06_civicsi.html

where did you read about "no top end gain"??

port and polish and cams are nice, but with no way to tune you won't get the full advantage.

In the mag! They stated there was no top end gain, only through the midrange. Look at the Dyno results in the article! No doubt it will get you faster times( I herd 13.8)but is it worth it? Almost $700 with overnight S/H to and from Hondata

where did you here 13.8 with the reflash? AJP get 's 13.9 with a turbo. I posted about getting headwork to see what people thought. but with out fuel tunning it's allmost useless even if it breath's better. but I have not heard of anyone just doing headwork It miight help! I dont know.. my next step is the reflash then to a dyno to see what I got in terms of WHP!

then i will never buy a ajp turbo kit...or there driver blows....high 13's are easily obtainable with I/H/E reflash

$700 for 30 hp is great bang for the buck.....port and polish at this setp in th game is pointless with out proper tunning....

I really did.nt know that we could get in tthe 13's with a reflash! my goal is to get low 13. in the 1/4 so I might be able to do it N/A with some tunning. hmm. I just want to run a better time than my buddy's (street) vette becuase he's allways rippin on me for liking 4 bangers. will see!! 1/4 is not my thing but it have not had the money for a real autocross race yet.

Well I have some "new" news on tuning.

I just got off the phone with Nate at CT Engineering. He tells me Doug from Hondata is overseas working on new fuel tuning for the K20Z3 with a Comptech blower. Looks like stage 2 and 3 might be on the horizon. I will know more on Monday.

Course, this is no help for the NA guy's, sorry.

Anyone out there heard of Gude performance (So. Cal)? They said they could do a complete port polish three angle valve job throttle body and custom cam for $1350. Expected gains of 40WHP. What are your thoughts?

Your acting retarded ( He miss spelled it of course ) means exactly what it says. Your asking about getting headwork done etc, but there is NO way to do it. So you car will NOT run correctly.
We have been discussing this numerous times in the thread already.

Before you start changing cam and doing any head work perhaps you should remember that you live in California. Besides not being able to fuel tune your ride, you will not be able to smog it either. No smog, no registration. I know you can get up to a 6 year smog abatement, but you never know. If you get popped and the officer thinks your modified, you will most likely be needing a smog before you can renew your registration when it comes due again.

Just a thought.
